Question V6 for protege...

I dont know if this thread has been posted but here is the thing; i was making a search and my intentions were to make it turbo my pro but a friend told me make a swap to a V6 engine on my pro and i find this web site www.japandomesticmotor.com and i find the perfect engine to my pro that is a KFZE 2.0L V6 with 180hp and for $500 USD i get:
• Motor
• Transmission
• Engine Wiring Harness
• All required Cables
• ECU
• Distributor
• Complete Intake Manifold
• Power Steering Pump
• Alternator
• A/C
• All Brackets and Sensors

does all these thing fit to my Pro 91 LX like plug and play? Have someone allready buy an engine to make the swap in the pro or other car to have a reference?
What do you think guys?

any sugestion will be apreciated!

it will be very expensive to put that motor into the protege frame. Also you'll have to look at the weight gain in front of the strut towers. You're going to have a lot of suspension problems and possibly brake problems from trying to stop that heavier motor. If you're looking for more power I would just suggest a turbo or a small nitrous kit. If you're set on doing a motorswap you should go all out and put a nice 12A rotary in it and make it RWD.

Not only do you have to worry about weight but 500. bucks for the hole things sounds to good to be true! SR Motors has an all out built 2.0 (cams gears the works) for 4699.00 plus shipping. I would be very carful about the price, whats the shipping cost? Any ways you get more HP from the SR motor and a turbo plus less weight!

But puting a turbo, I have to buy a turbo, intercooler, a turbo intake manifold, etc. I think that is like or more expensive than installing this V6 engine and all the turbo stuff adds weight to front but I guess less than the 2L V6 or equals. but my pro has 125K miles on it and when i go in the up revs is starts to burn oil a little bit.

I'm looking on the internet and forums what exactly need my pro to put a turbo and my engine is bp and no one tells me or i don't find what i need to swap BP to BPT, I thought that it will be easer to put this V6 engine than a turbo.

just curious to know, at how many miles these pro's had to have there engine's overhaul?

I never thought about it but, ¿has more weight the 1.8L V6 of the MX3 than the 1.8L DOHC L4 of the Protege?

v6 should always weigh more than a 4cyl...engine size isn't a factor.

BPT swaps are VERY common. Do a search on this forum there is TONS of info here on them.

It has been widely debated as to wether or not the K series V6 is actually heavier than the BP, and most people believe that they both weigh about the same. Infact the BP may even be a bit heavier. But the weight difference is no more than 50 pounds or so.
If its that big a deal upgrade to the MX3 V6 suspension.

The engine will fit into the first genereation protege. They are platform mates to the MX3 and back before the 1.8l V6 for the MX3 was introduced, there were a few (about 12 or so) first gens with a 1.8l V6. These were Mazda Test mules and a few of them fell into the hands of the general public. Infact a very reputable member of the Protegetech Yahoo group had one for a little while.
You will however need a subframe, tranny, axles and some other **** from a V6 MX3 to make it happen.

dude Roddimus are u actually saying it would be easier 2 do a rotary RWD conversion than 2 do the v6 that u say is way heavier and will lead 2 suspension probs.. haha how about no... as midnight said.. you get the suspension from a v6 mx3,.... and u make it sound like its twice the weight of a bp .. ahh now i see how u got ur 3000 posts.. just going around posting **** that u dont even know about

so why dont u go have another BBQ that celebrates how much of a post ***** u are

What I meant by my comment was that you're going to be spending a lot of money and time on the V6 swap. It would be better spent producing it as a rotary-powered RWD swap. If I'm going to sink that m uch time and effort into something it's not going to be a pissy 140hp V6 FWD.

The KLZE v6 is 200 hp.
The swap isn't that time consuming nor expensive if you can find a v6 mx3 parts car.
Hell Aspec will do it for 4300$CDN and that includes suspension and brake upgrades. Its basically a turnkey operation.

and what does it put at the wheels? Either way, $4300cad is a lot of money. It does sound like it's easier than I thought but either way I would rather spend $4300cad making something unique and fast.

I still stick by my point. I think if you're going to invest that much time and money you could do something original.

I see your point, but a v6 323 protege, escort is fairly unique though not necessarily a one off in itself.

yeah, someone was advertising one for sale on here not too long ago. I think he only wanted like $1500 for it. It may still be in the for sale section.

He's partly right but so am I. I know very little about 1st and 2nd gen proteges. I've always said that. But I am also right in that I only said it was my opinion that it would be more worthwhile to make something unique and different.

You'll have to overlook Gro, he's never around anymore but still has title. Out of 3K+ posts I've made I get called out on like 3 of them.....it's sad.
