Post Sport20 Gtech pro competition numbers

Hi,

I bought a Gtech pro competition and made some tests.

The Sport20 delivers 170HP with 18.4 kg.m of torque at 5500 according to Mazda. It's a Protege 5 only sold in Japan and it has 4WD. Unlike the Mazda speed Protege, it doesn't have a turbo. Those HP numbers from Mazda are HP at the crank and not WHP. So here below, you will find the numbers I got with the Gtech.

weather was: 30 Celcius, humidity of 70%

0-60 feet: 2.651 sec
0-330 feet: 6.888 sec
1/8 mile : 10.254 at 74.68 MPH
1/4 mile: 15.412 at 97.431 MPH
0-1000 feet: 13.116 sec
0-60 MPH: 8.191 sec
max HP: 158.4 (take into account wind drag, and all power losses through drivetrain)
max torque: 122.3 ft.lbs at 5621 rpm

if you are interested in a Gtech, you can get one here: www.gtechpro.com

Nice-looking car.
I find it hard to believe that Mazda has not imported their 4WDs into the states & give Subaru a little bit of a run for their money. I guess Mazda doesn't think US demand for these cars would be very high. That's a shame cuz I'd buy one for sure.
I've owned vehicles from just about every Japanese manufacturer. This is my first Mazda and unless the quality of their product declines I don't think I'll ever go back to any of the others!

not really. I recommend this place:
http://www.japanparts.com/shop/shop.cgi?maker=Mazda
they ship internationally.

also this place:
http://www.rakuten.co.jp/gorilla/396334/426703/

They may not ship oversea though, please check. You can translate the page using Altavista's babelfish.

Hey, anyone know what the curb weight/ gearing of a Sport20 is vs. a Protege5? I am willing to bet that the 4WD components add a couple of hundred pounds (at least). Just imagine how far that 170hp would go in a 2WD, US-market car! I say this because the 0-60 time (while better than a stock P5), is not stellar. I would expect the 0-60 time of a 170hp 2WD US-market car to be somewhere in the mid sevens, given the curb weight and our gearing.

the 60' time of 2.6s is horrible....AWD, 170hp and a 2.6s 60'?? My 100whp fwd p5 mad a 2.3s 60' and thats considered pretty slow. You need to be dropping the clutch on that thing at redline.
