Gotta Brag somtimes
Last weekend was the CCR SCCA Auto X event at Kershaw, Carolina motorsports park. Great Track 2 miles cut in half for the Auto Xers so the course was about 1 mile long. I have been running in Auto X Events for about 4 years now in either my P5 or my 68 Ghia and have never placed less than third
My car
BLK Mic 03 P5
Mods:
Injen
N1 exhaust muffler
Tokiko Mazda Speed Struts
Eibach Pro Kit
Rear AWR Sway
B&M Short Shifter
AWR Trailing ARMS
End Link adjusters Front and Rear
Fitapaldi 8 x 15 Wheels ( Koumo V700 225 50 15 Tires
105 WHP dyno results
No other mods
I run in FSP ( F Street Prepared )
I got 1st Place in my class Against a 15 yr verteran Auto x solo 1 driver / instructor with a trailer queen race prepared car.
Last year I got first in my class in the 68 Ghia. To bad I sold it. But I am glad I can at least still place #1 at that road course.
Future Mods:
Flash ECU
Aluminum Intake Manifold
Pulleys
lightened Flywheel

Ingition Kit
I Might Deck the Head a couple of mm to bump the compression if possible.

wow!! I'd love to be that successfull at competitions but I have that little nagging voice on my shoulder...."drive slower" "this is your daily driver".....you know? a wife.
will they allow forced induction? If so you might be interested in the supercharger I'm building. Instant power with no lag and it won't throw boost at you like a turbo will and cause iffy handling.. it should feel more like a 3.0L V6 under the hood.

When will the Super charger be ready? What is the price that you are looking to get for a complete bolton turnkey kit..
I wil bump quickly for more low end power.
It will put me in another class of competition which will likely be Turbo eclipse/ Lancers / Subies.. I'd love to kick thier buts.. How much HP will this kit produce. similar to the 350 Z v6?
Thanks
Brian

since it's your thread....
I'm hoping to have everything ready to start tuning the first kit in about 1-2 months. There are 2 kits, 1 is a 6psi kit...about 170whp (soft estimate) and a 9psi, intercooled kit with about 200-220whp. Price for the 6psi is going to be right about $2500 and the 9psi about $3000. You will be required to remove your AC but I'm sure thats not an issue for someone as into racing as you are!!
p.s. 200whp in a p5 is a good bit faster than 250hp wrx. weight and drivetrain loss are important factors!

Supercharger / AC Eliminated??
I dont know what it would take get this kit built so you dont have to elminate the AC but I would not be willing to take mine out. I drive this car pretty regularly when I'm not on my bike. I have seen various SC's on the market that dont require removing the AC components. It is usually acomidated with some form of bracket. Is that somthing that you would consider getting into ? I think you would have more sucess selling it if you fabbed a braket for this kit.

Had this discussion with Matty before. It's either lose the AC or lose the power steering. No real good way of getting around it. check out the 2.0L Supercharger thread. Lot's of good info.

I understand that you may not want to remove your ac so my SC is not for you. This is not directed to you particularly so don't take offense:
I'm sick and tired of everyone telling me to keep the ac. Do you not think if I could I would? There are a few variables to consider. #1 cost, #2 ease of installation, #3 mounting location of blower, #4 efficiency of blower in relation to belt-drive system, #5 pulley turning direction, #6 CLEARANCE UNDER HOOD AND IN THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE BAY
All of these things are MAJOR issues. They ALL have to be addressed before this thing will run. With the AREA51 blower you lost powersteering and made the car virtually un-driveable. That's out of the question. On the "thomas knight" supercharger for the 626 you have to replace the intake manifold and add a huge non-intercooled eaton that takes up so much space you have to remove the strut bar and cruise control and run the blower pulley off make-shift alternator pulley. SC's HAVE to be run off the crank pulley for efficeint boost. There are flaws in every kit (even turbos) my flaw is the ac comes out....after that it's nothing but good stuff. Just for giggles go to your autoparts store and get a belt for a 2.0L protege engine WITHOUT ac. Put it on your car and ride with the windows down. You'll notice a slight bump in power (much larger bump with the blower) and if you can go 1 week without your ac you can do without it forever. My first car with AC was my supercharged Contour SVT...i hated it, wished I could've removed it. AC is a luxery item and not a neccessity. If performance is your thing and you want linear boost that will never spike or creep or add tons of heat to engine bay or require more frequent oilchanges or additonal maintaince then my SC is for you.
p.s. I live in Alabama and I'm 260lbs. The other day it was 99* at 3pm with about 90% humidity. I had no problems just rolling the windows and cruising. Yeah it sucked at first but after about 40mph it's fine.

AC / SC Comprimise
I hear ya bro ... I am just a big fan of the daily driver that kicks *** on the track and street without giving up the creature comforts. I will test out for a week or so how things feel with no AC and If I can adjust I may just bump for this. I drove the KGhia around for 3 years and we all know there aint **** for air in those cars.
Keep up the good work! And let us know when you have a working unit.
Thanks

i LOVE the KG's. I have been trying for about 3 years to find a nice one for my wife without any luck. = (
The supercharger project will be very interesting if for no other reason that there are no other daily driven supercharged proteges in North America.
p.s Just speaking with Powerdyne about the flow rates of the blower I'm using....450cfm at 6psi Maximum boost is 13psi which should be almost 1000cfm. This of course would require new kevlar belt and upgraded bearings...both of which I just happen to have! Don't let anyone say this kit isn't scaleable!! Also, if you go buy the old addage of 10hp for 1psi, then my claim of 170whp @ 6psi isn't bad at all. I still think it's conservative though since most people see 12-15hp per psi.
