Which should i get?

Okay, after using the search function thoroughly for like 2 hours last nite, i haven' come to a conclusion on what i should get. It's my birthday soon, and some relatives were asking what I want, and i can't think of anything i really need or anything, so i figured maybe i would ask for a header or exhaust system for my P5. I have a couple of questions since a lot of the posts in the search function are outdated and prices may have changed and stuff.

-The 2 most popular headers seem to be AWR and Ractive, but one is a 4-1 and one is a 4-2-1. The 4-2-1 seems a better option for every day driving. Which one is the 4-2-1 and how much do they cost and how much does coating it cost? Is coating really worth it?

-It seems everyone who has RB exhaust system loves it to death, but its kinda hard to find places that sell it, or group buys. Anyone know of any places or group buys going on for it?

-Which do you think i should get for the gift, header or exhaust system? Why?

Thanks guys!

Tre

The Racing Beat catback kicks ***, hands down. The AWR header is expensive and has some minor flaws (at least mine does). Although the AWR is high quality and a great performance part, I'd rather have gone with the RacingMazda header. I don't even know if they make these anymore.

Would you guys say its a must to wrap or coat the header? Rishie from AutoRND quoted me $460 shipped for the RB Exhaust...How does that price stack up? Kinda sucks that i live like 30 minues from the place but they wont let me pick it up so i have to freaking pay at least $30 for shipping and wait a few days...

Wrapping or coating the header is not necessary. I've heard wrapping can be detrimental, and I'm not really sure coating will make a significant difference on a Protege.

contact Ken from protegegarage.com He's doing a GB on an OBX cat-back that looks awesome...so aweesome in fact I'm getting one. It's a 2.5" mandrel bent , polished stainless steel exhaust and the muffler looks identical to the Gredy Evo exhaust. I believe the GB price is about $260 shipped for the entire exhaust...maybe a little more. Tell him I sent you.

That sounds liek a good deal, but i think i've decided to go with the RB catback, since its pretty quiet, and it looks almost stock. The cops in this one area i go to quite often can be like the biggest anti-mod cops ever created, so i'd rather be discreet. The quality of the RB sounds like it will last forever too. Anyone have any comments on the $460 shipped price for RB catback?
