Hi, I'm a new MP5 owner and I just purchased my car a month ago. I want to give my car the best lubricants and parts to make my even more reliable than what it is.
What are the maintenance things that you MP5 owners done to the car that wasn't recommended by the dealer or wasn't done by them that give the car better performace and reliability. (e.g. I put Z-max lubricant in my car and it runs so much more smoother).

What are the best oils, radiator fluids to make it run cooler, brake fluids, motor oils, tranny lubricants, ect for are vehicels other than the OEM?
What are good oil filters, air filters, spark plugs & wires, brake pads? Please feel free to make any recommendations to make the car run smootherand better.

My car has small vibes and is alittle under the 1000 RPMs at idle after 5 mins of warm up. Does anyone know why?
Also I have alittle over 36300 miles on my car. Should I have done any special tune up or maintenace check by now? (I'll be getting a manual soon.)

P.S. We are all HERE as Mazda P5 owners to get the best out of are cars for years to come why not shear it with each other. Thanks for the advice...

 

Royal Purple coolant and motor oil...good stuff

you should have had a 30K inspection...they usually do an intake cleaning at that time.

i try to change my oil every 3K...

Mazda oil filters are actually some of the best. i use denso iridium plugs...and mazda wires are NGK, so they're pretty damn good. i can't explain the vibrations...sorry 'bout that.

I noticed my car idles at like 500-600rpm, is that normal?

 

Mines Idles around that RPM range to. I thought that cars are supposed to Idle around 1000 RPM. If ours (me and Replicas) is to low does this indicate a problem.

Pete, Take a deep breath and step away from the additives. Now read your owners manual and follow their reccomendations. We all have favorite brands (mine is castrol) but the real difference in reducing wear on your parts is up to you.
Oil turns dark for one big reason. Gasoline contamination results from blow-by at the rings, valve seals, etc. primarily on a cold engine. This fuel cotamination will also reduce the viscosity of the oil and make it more suseptible to being sucked into the combustion chamber where it will be consumed. Change your oil often, and almost any brand will be satisfactory. This is especially important if you are hard on your toys. I have a very meticulous friend (****) that insist on changing oil every 1500 miles. I really thought he was wasting his time until he tore down his baby after about 100K miles. We just put it back together because all the wear parts were within factory spec. Maybe he paid for a rebuild one oil change at a time. I'll just stick with the 3000 mile rule.

 

Paulp and stealthscotty, Thank you so much for the help. Thanks for that info on Zmax Paulp. I'll stop useing Zmax for sure. What are good lubricants for the vehical. What are lubs you would recommend to make it run smoother? I'm going to change my oil and plugs soon. I'm a Castrol GTX and Mobil 1 fan. Should I use synthetic or regular oil ( I live in Deltona, FL)? Should I use 10-30 or 5-30?

 

Good advice from Stealthscotty about ixnaying the additives. One simple thing to consider (I've mentioned this on another post) is to pick up a K&N air filter, part #33-2134. They last forever - it's the only one you'll ever buy (unless you damage it) and they breathe so easy while keeping the air nice and clean.

Actually, K&N makes good filters period. You'll pay more, but at least you know for sure that they're doing the job right.
