I am about to buy a set of rims for my P-5 but I am concearned about .. yes you guessed it the OFF-Set.....

The Specs for the wheels I am looking at are as follows.

17" x 7" Racing Hart w/ 1.5" Lip 40mm offset 5 x 114.3 bolt pattern.

What is the stock Offset for the 03 p5 anyway?

Here is the issue .. I have the Eibach Pro-kit on my p5 that droped it 1.5" and 1.25" I have installed the Mazda Speed Tokiko Struts and am using the Big Fat 22mm AWR Rear Sway with the Adj End links front an rear as well as the new AWR Trailing arms. ((Awsome setup for Auto Xing )) I run a set of Fitapaldi 15 x 8's rime with 225/50/15 koumos for the track.. Sticky and Wide!!!

The big question is this If I go with a 215 /45/ 17" Yoko ES 100 is it going to clear the fenders?

I really apreciate any input because I dont see that anyone has brught up the fitment of 17" wheels with a 1.5" Drop.

I was running a 40 offset with a set of Konig Rims, (205/40/17) and it totally sliced up the sidewall of my tire whenever I hit a bump or had someone in the back of the car. (My car is also lowered with Eibach springs.) To be safe, I would look for an offset of 43-48 to ensure clearence.

 

Stock offset I believe is +55

 

55!! Geeeze thats allot. So I guess the higher the offset the further away from the fender you get huh? I'll see what Ican find in a 45 and hope it works out .

the minimum offset you would need is a 45mm,i believe that this would give you just enough clearance .

Ok .. here is what I have found but want to make sure it will work

SIZE : 17 x 7 , 5 x 114.3 , OFFSET : 45 , 5 LUGS

I want to use 205 45/ 17's Yoko ES100 Tires

Will this work or should I go with 40's (I'd rather not)

To determine the effect of a change in tire/wheel size on speedometer error, go to : www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

A tire size of 205/45-17 will make your speedometer read 2.5% too slow. A tire size of 205/40-17 will cause your speedometer to read .9% too fast. Therefore the latter combination would be the correct fitment for your car assuming you are concerned about speedometer error.

 

An even better fit: 215/40/17

The 17X7 +45 offset should work.

YEP, the +45 will work....even with the Eibach Drop....I am running that as well. and I too have the Yoko ES 100's and LOVE them.....but pop for the 215/40's....there is no real price difference...and they fit great.....and as stated already...they are as close as you can get to the stock diameter.

 

Will a 17x7 with a 42 offset rub with eibach pros. I was going to buy 205/40/17 tires.

 

I ran 215/45/17's on my 2002 p5 and they rubbed until I had the rear fenders rolled!
