14 inch steel wheels fit P5?

Looking at winter tires. I know this topic has been covered. Didn't see my specific question though. Looking at rim/winter tire options for my 02 P5 with 195/50 16 OE tires.

Can I get a set of 5 bolt 14 inch Mazda steel wheels from the local recycling yard and buy something like a set of 175/70 14 Hankook winter tires? Will the 14 inch rims fit with the stock rotors? Am I better off with 15 inch rims? Looking at what other people with P5's have done. You Canadians seem to be the experts here. :-)

Tires would only get snow/ice use in the mountains on the weekends. Oregon's lowlands never seem to get snow anymore. Trying to figure out the most cost effective combination sticking as close as possible to the same tire diameter.

Eric

I don't own a P5 but the ES GT has disc brakes in the back as well......I wanted to get 14"s but I read on here that certain 14" rims didn't fit. So instead of taking a chance i just ended up getting 15" rims. From what I understand the reason why the 14" don't fit is because the rear disc brakes interfer with the rims. I guess if you can try on a set of 14" on the back of your car that might give you an idea if it's going to work or not......man it would be nice to get 14" on there cause i'm not that impressed with those 15" they are still too wide.

I've heard you can get 14" to fit the P5/ES-GT's. There should be wheels available on the market, I've seen the 5-bolt 14"s at Wal-Mart.

those universal steel rims are lug-centric - not as good as the 15" steelies you can get straight from mazda that are hub-centric for about the same price.
