I just bought a P5. Want to know easy ways to increase horse power. I plan on KN filter, platinum spark plug. Any more suggestions?

 

well first of all this post has no business in the forced induction section,since it has nothing to do with turbo,supercharging, or N20. Second of all higher octane gas in a normal FS-DE will do nothing, matter of fact it may actually lower power a little...If you have a turbo however high octane helps since it reduces detonation....in the future do a search as this subject has already been discussed to DEATH

 

You are right. You gotta remember that all Octane does is raise the temperature at which gasoline detonates. I am moving this thread.

 

Stick with the Copper plugs.

I concur, higher octane fuel will not help you achieve higher hp. Nor will changing your regualr plugs to platinum. I suppose in theory you will gain a fraction of a hp but that's not enough to notice.

 

NO IT DOES NOT BURN CLEANER!!! It might not even combust completely and leave you with carbon deposits.

It is so much fun with this car. So far, I ordered a KN filter and a autoseattle hood deflector. My son, 14, spends most of his evenings with it, listening to the stereo, buffing the rims, dusting. The car is kind of bonding me and him again. He swears this gonna be his ride when he is 16, the driving age.

If you could advance the timing on the third gen you *MIGHT* see a noticeable gain with higher octane, but barely.You can't do it on a 3rd gen anyways so this post was probably pointless.

 

It's also a good way to waste your money and increase carbon build up due to incomplete combustion.

Higher octane gas was designed for cars with higher compression, which require a higher ignition temperature. In those vehicles, the fuel will burn properly, but not on our Proteges or any other car requiring "regular unleaded."

i thought the reasons dealerships only put supreme in their cars is because it burns cleaner, atleast thats wut i have been told. and my dragger buddies say that they put 112 or higher because it helps keep the motor cleaner.
