Question hood shocks

Does anyone out there know if there are any kits available that allow you to mount shocks to the hood to replace the stupid hood prop?

I had this installed aftermarket on my previous Vdub and it was a nice feature. The kit was made specifically for the dub and I'm wondering if there is one that I can get for the Protege5 without drilling any holes.

i dont know where it would mount since there arent any holes last time i checked

maybe you can do it yourself, just drill and tap the holes. if you dont want to do it its an easy job for someone with the tools.

Does anybody have a price on these? I did a rough calculation and unless I made a mistake, it looks like the website wants $238 US.

Am I way off?

Off topic, but I hate it when you bring your car in to a shop and the mechanic slams the **** out of your hood!!! GRR!!! It's like, dude you are going to warp it!! I always put mine down and push it in until it clicks or hold it a couple of inches away at least!!

same here, trunk too, i had to train my wife not to slam it shut from fully open but to hold it a couple inches above shut and then let it fall...

Those would be sweet, a perfect fit kit would be great but for 238 US which is about 328 CAD it might be a little much. I would be interested in another option.

A question for ES owners. Does the ES' trunk have gas struts like the P5 or does it have gooseneck hinges like some sedans do?
