A Forrester?

WTF? Its now 2:45am and I'm watching MotorWeek on Speed Channel. The new Subaru Forrester XT (SUV) does 0-60 in 6.2secs and a 1/4 mile in 14...something.
EVERYONE wants to have the fastest SUV now.

This is a sleeper. Its a gumpy looking truck for christ sakes...lol

i never thought of it as an SUV

more like an outback with enough ground clearance to clear, um, maybe some deep ruts in dirt roads or something (i remember stacy from trucks! on spike tv taking the baja out and beating the **** out of it offroad )

I saw that too. One pulled up next to our Accord the other day, right after I saw that, and it was about the same height. That thing only weighs a little bit more than our cars (3200 lbs) and on the net there are pictures all over of people taking them off-road on dunes and ****.

FORESTER -- not double 'R' . It's an Impreza chassis so it'll be smaller than the Outback, it's more like an Outback Sport .

It is the STi engine, detuned though so it only has 210HP instead of 300. Still 6.2 for a frickin SUV will beat almost every other SUV and pickup on the road.

hahaha. Whats next for subaru? STi's with hemi's? They already make some of the fastest japanese cars. they need to slow down a bit.
And theres no need to do that in a forrester, i mean WTF? Who's gonna pimp out a station wagon?

I dunno about 6.2 sec, but in Car and Driver, they claim a 5.3 sec for 0-60. I do not care who is right or wrong, but that is still faster then Mazdaspeed Protege. If only Forester did not look so ugly, I just might be interested in it. Though personally, i cannot wait for new Legacy sedan thats going to be turboed as well. Here is a pic of a non-turbo New Legacy:

Actually, I've been told that the new Foresters have more power than the new STI. Kinda cool. I've always been a wagon guy. The Forester is a wagon to me.

Yeah. I had the idea to turn a '91 Ford Escort Wagon LX into a 4WD, GTR-powered monster. Too bad it was wrecked (no, it never was turned into a monster ).

Maybe I'll eventually do it.

Considering the official specs only say 210 versus 300 and the XT is supposed to have a pretty big boost deficit I doubt it. But if the internals are up to it, nothing to stop you from turning the boost up. 0-60 around 6 seconds sounds right for something weighing 3300 lbs with that things aerodynamic profile.

But say hello to your new friend, Body Roll.

I was just loaned a XT for 24 hours and the thing screams!! lots of low end grunt with not much turbo lag, but because of the big tires and SUV ride the handling is only average and a bit unsecure at high speeds. Upon returning the car I was handed a set of keys to an 04 WRX for 4 days. What a blast! much more lag than the XT but pulls a little harder after 4000rpm. Thinking to ditch the P5 as it feels like it is powered by hampsters now. It is a shame Mazda completely missed the boat on the power and 4wd aspects. The Pro 5 has much better build quality(the WRX is a tin can) and much better looks than the WRX, it has more fun handling too, but the power and 4wd of the WRX is intoxicating! Even if I was to put a turbo in the P5 it would still not be as fast and would just spin its wheels.
hmmm,What to do? what to do?
