I have tried everything possible to get my alarm to go off. Ive had ma and a friend rock the car like hell, pounded on the windshield, locked myself in tried to get out. locked it at reached through a rolled down window and opend it. Ive seriously tried everything except for actully breaking in. Its useless, the alarm will never go off. all its good for is that damn panic button.

and speakinf of the alarm going off randomly. My does that ocasionally, however thats just because my keys are in my pocket and when i sit down wierd i sometimes hit the panic button. yea, its pretty scary, but whatever. my alarm is gonna be out the door in a few months

Sensitivity

There should be a red light just infront of your speedometer cluster.{if you have a alarm}Some from the factory have their sensitivity turned down to the lowest setting which could be the reason your alarm is not working. As a Mazda salesman I see them shipped with the sensitivity all the way up and down. Or you don't have a alarm like THE MAN says

Brycer, do you in fact have the blinking red light in front of your insturment cluster? like they said...if not ...you got no alarm...MINE works like a charm....in fact I was cleaning the outside of my car in the garage the other day...and I didn't trun off the alarm...and just me polishing the door set it off....also....one day I came home and I had been driving with the sunroof open....I didn't shut it when I pulled in the garage....and I automatically locked and set the alarm when I got out...its habit....and in just a short time the alarm went off....I wonder if there is some kind of sensor that if all the doors and moonroof aren't COMPLETELY shut when you set the alarm it will make it go off...sort of like a warning to say...."HEY STUPID...YOU LEFT YOUR MOONROOF OPEN!!"

When I took delivery, my alarm was set at the highest sensitivity and would go off all the time. I have it set at almost the lowest setting now because I live on a busy street and passing trucks and motorcycles used to set it off. Now it goes off only if the car is messed with.

If you do have the factory alarm, (as stated in previous posts) you will have a red light mounted in front of the speedometer on the instrument cluster. The sensitivity is controlled by a little black box under the dash by the steering column. The black box has a tiny grey **** that you can turn to adjust it up or down.

I have a factory alarm, and it doesnt go off unless I break my window. I tested it with all of my windows using a household hammer, and the alarm goes off for each window except the small window on the passenger rear side. Anyone know how I can fix this??

I suggest welding steel plate to the body of the car over the small rear window on the passenger side. Or maybe string some bells in the inside portion of the small rear window on the passenger side so you can hear them ring if the window is broken.

I tried looking for this box, but coudlnt seem to find it Can you give me some more features of this box? I need to set my alarm sensitivity higher. I had this question a while back, and nobody seemed to know of a box. Do you know how to reprogram the alarm and keychain? Ive always wondered why you couldnt set the code yourself, since someone at the dealer could get your code, and steal your car!

If possible, can you post a pic of that black box? Thanks

well I just went and looked...and sure enough there is a little box with a **** on the side of it there....it even has a sticker that tells you that this is the sensor for the alram.....mine was adjusted all the way clockwise...I ran it all the way the other direction.....it didn't really make any difference in the sensitivity....I ran it all the way back to where it was....no difference. what's up with that?

Not sure. Counter-clockwise should lower the sensitivity. At least it did for mine.

I finally found the black box. It was lodged way underneath the steering wheel. It has a CODE-ALARM sticker on it.

I turned the **** all the way clockwise, and I noticed a difference immediatly. I set the alarm, and lifted up on the handle of the door and let go, the vibration set it off. Just a couple of minutes ago, a plane went by over my house ( I live near an airport) and my alarm went off from the noise/vibration of the plane.

Looks like Im going to have to crank the **** down some, since we have planes going overhead often.

Play around with the ****, you may get different results

My alarm when it goes off is different than the panic button alarm. Is this normal? When I hit panic the horn goes beep...beep... beep... But when I make the alarm go off it sounds like some little bastard kid is playing with the horn. It has no pattern and just beeps at random
