Anyone familier with this law?

Vehicle Equipment Regulation
61(2) A person shall not drive or operate a motor vehicle propelled by an
internal combustion engine if the exhaust outlet of the muffler has been
widened.

One of our forum members was given a ticket for having an after market axle-back system on his car. I beleive it was $115.

Anyone know how long this law has been on the books? Know of anyone that's actually been ticketed for this?

As far as I know it has always been like that. I can't quite remember what the Alberta motor vehicle act states but a 2.00" to 2.50" maximum bore size on the exhaust tip is what comes to mind. The act is full of BS things like:

Window tinting (to an extent)

All motor vehicles shall be equipped with mud flaps.

I suspect that the person who recieved this ticket may have been difficult with the officer who gave the ticket and gave he/she a reason to write it up or was a victim of the stereotype that the fast and ferious movies have created.

It sucks

it says if the EXSISTING STOCK muffler has been widdened, not if you put another exhaust on, i got a ticket for that and i fought it, the guy who was fighting my ticket says the thing was BS
