a good exhaust no THE BEST EXHAUST

I am looking into an exhaust for my mp5 and I don't want it too loud. but I want it to work well, very well, the best. Only the best for my car. so if any one has an Idea as to the best exhaust for my 02 mp5 let me know. also wondering about an intake. Any way thanks to anyone who replies. Again don't want one that makes a lot of noise also one that give a little back.... pressure would be nice.

hee hee... tucson. hello!

anyway, before anyone screams at you to do a search, i'll put in some recommendations. the search function doesn't work too well anyway.

for exhaust, the best seems to be the JIC exhaust. it's over $600, but rishie swears by it. he's the resident expert on our cars in terms of what mods are the best because he's tried them all. greddy has an exhaust out that's supposedly really quiet, but the tip is ginormous.

for intake, injen, aem or k&n would do. if you want the best in terms of functionality, then go with k&n. you get a cai and a sri all in one. with the floods in tucson during monsoon season that's supposed to be coming up, this setup would be most ideal. i have the injen cai, and i love it.

i'm getting the racing beat exhaust soon (it's the quietest non-stock exhaust to date) and am still torn over whether or not i want to go with the awr header. keep in touch, we should go driving sometime.

tonka.

thank for the info

Hey TONKA how goes it, is it hot enough here in Tucson are there enough mountians on fire. Thanks for the info about exhausts and intakes. I was wondering how much the RB exhaust you are installing is? and if you were to do it again would you do the K&N intake or the one you are currently running and why? Also that talk of headers intrigued me because I have been searching the internet for headers for my car and have come up with zilch. Any website addresses that actually have mods for our cars would be greatly apprieciated. also thanks to all who reply to my newbie questions I am just glad I found a place to ask them.

Re: thank for the info

i'm getting the racing beat exhaust off another member hopefully, so it's a little cheaper. running price on it is $430 shipped.

if i were to do it again, i would get the injen again. the filter is low, but it's not ridiculously low. bottom of the filter is ~6" from the ground and the top of the filter is ~11" from the ground. so unless you are gonna be driving through a foot of water for an extended period of time, you're all good. stay away from tucson road. that thing floods like no other. the price i got it for was perfect (195 shipped). it was on a group buy. if you want one, go to adventon.com. they ship fast and are easy to deal with. sounddomain, although cheaper, is a little sucky on customer service.

but you said you wanted the best. so k&n is reputedly the best filter maker, and their pipes can be converted, so it is the best. but with the best comes the price. i haven't seen the filter for cheaper than $390.

header... the header for our car is currently in production from racingmazda.com. the awr one is already out. awr = ~$500 shipped. racing mazda is about $300 shipped. the awr is race proven and is a single piece design that hooks up to the second cat. the racingmazda one is a two piece design that eliminates all cats. all other headers out there are vaporware. all talk, no go. i'm very torn between these two headers because with the racingmazda one, i have to hack and weld the pipe so it hooks up to the second cat. i can't run a car without cats and feel ok about it. and my car is registered in california, so when i go back and get a spot check from the cops, i'll get fined if i go no cat.

tucson sucks. i hate the heat. i was gonna go up to summerhaven last weekend to hang out and chill with some friends coming into town, but the mother burned to the ground. now i have nowhere to go to escape this hellish heat. oh well. let me know if i can do anything else for you. oh, i highly recommend eibach springs whenever you get the chance. what color is your car?

tucson does suck

Is there any difference in hp gain between the injen and the K&N thanks for the web sites. Why the eibach springs the car already handle well of course better would be great. My mp5 is red and stock so far, hopefully not for long.

if you want to see the benefits of eibachs, we should go for a run around gates pass and old tucson. i can't wait to get real struts for the car. anyway... on with your question...

for our engines, it doesn't seem to matter what intake you get. the gains are minimal, but the throttle response is much improved. it doesn't feel like it's lagging up the rpms.

if you are concerned about water ingestion and want to save a little bit of money, go with the aem. it sits real high in the engine bay (a little lower if you have the 5-speed), and it works just as well as the injen. if you want to come check out the intake, let me know and we'll set something up.

have you seen the red one in town with the exhaust and rims? the guy is sort of a punk. i tried to talk to him and he had the "i am better than thou" attitude.

I have seen the red

I have seen the red one. He is a big man it seems the car looks good. Its too bad he is all high and mighty. I haven't seen him since I got my car though. If you say performance gain is the same then I guess it doesn't matter a whole lot which one I go with so the best for the money would be the smartes thing to do It seems the racing beat exhaust sound like a good idea. Thanks for all your help Tonka and hopefully we can hook up when I get back from Vancouver. VACATION!!! I will keep In touch I am not leaving Until Saturday but the car is going in for paint tomarrow. some ******* keyed it drivers passenger door. peace.
