Inst. lights FIXED!!!
Gentlemen;
I decided to be systematic and start from the bottom... of the console. I stripped away most of the plastic panels and traced the wires down to the ashtray and cigarette ligth area. I discovered a mounting screw which accidentally skewered two lighting wires together, rendering the whole circuit useless. Somehow the radio circuit was then feeding the lighting circuit, bypassing the radio fuse altogether! Lucky for me, this portion of the wiring harness was at the tail end of the section of harness and had a disconnect. Clickety click out it came! After replacing the dash mounted dimmer switch Suprise suprise the lights work fine once again! Lesson learned: watch where you screw in your srews and make sure those pesky little wires stay the F@#$ out of the way! Thanks to all for yuor help and suggestions which pointed me to the dealer who was very helpful with full diagrams and schematics. Well done!
