First time reader, first time poster here. Just got my midnight blue MP5 last weekend and am looking forward to meeting other MP5 owners. How many of you are out there?

Has anyone ever organized a provincial Protege meet before? Heck, even a regional one?

Haha, sort of trying. There are a few people in Edmonton, Calgary, and here in Vancouver that have shown interest. I believe that if we could grab a sponsor for the event, even more Mazda's would come. If we could, the place would be unstoppable. I am one on the interested few too, I put the suggestion out a while ago. The problem is, I don't have the connections that I had in Calgary. But, you never know what could happen.

The hard part would be
1. Determining a sponsor who would benefit from a Mazda meet.

2. Determining what you would want the sponsor to do

What did you have in mind?

 

That's the hard part. Determining those things. I believe Mazda might be the only benefactor but maybe a local dealer might be. But that's the problem...Dealers wouldn't sign on else they can be convinced that they'll make sales because of the event. I can't do that for them. Then I would like a 'sponsor' to supply the room for all our cars, their product. Such as a lot or park. I believe that if 'we' could get a base to work off of, 'we'll' come. It is hard to work the other way around: Have all the people but no where to go.

We are thinking of having a Protege meet in the summer in Hawlack PArk up here in Edmonton. It would be sort of a show and shine and perhaps a Barbque. It would be in conjunction with Jarman Mazda, our sponsor and a local radio station. We are not sure of the date as yet.

It looks like the mini meet we had last year in Red Deer may not happen again since our contact at that Mazda dealer is no longer there from what I hear.

We'll see.
