I don't see how they would function properly in any shape other than round?

I've been in contact with The Brake Man company about 5 times now.

Every time I ask them about new stuff, will they make a brake kit for the MX-3, or any other Mazda, etc etc.

Their rotors work, and they work super well.

But, I would NEVER buy one unless I raced, because that's all they're meant for.

They're designed for race cars, and they work on race cars.

On a daily driver it would be very impractical.

As far as I know, none of their rotors will fit a Protege with stock calipers yet.
