rattle at warm up

Is it normal to hear this metalic ratle when the car is heating up and the engine RPMs are droping from like 1.5K to like 1.4K. It's a very short lived sound, less then 1 sec to 3 sec or so. It doesn't show up at all after warm up though. It's like there was an extra strain on the engine or something.

Thanks in advanced.

i used to get that too
but it was because i was using too light an oil for my climate(HOT HOT HOT) i switched to a thicker oil (20-50) and now everything is smooth as butter

reason being was because when the car sat all night the light oil used to drain all back into the sump pan and the lifters became dry so at start up just before they got oil circulating 100% they were dry and kinda rattled

That would make sense considering it only did it when we had the few rare hot days. Yet I have no clue what's in there right now, I'll be changing the oil today, so hopefully that will do it.

Thanks,
Jake

hmm
mine does it too
with winter oil, and with summer oil

its always done it

i kno in nissans, when they make that noise its their hydraulic valve lash adjusters

i dont think the 1.5L's have those tho
we have to adjust our valves lash manually

im just gonna have that done, it may fix that sound

My rattling

I have a rattling noise in my car as well when it idles, which worried me since i couldnt seem to find where it came from. When I had my muffler replaced, I asked my mechanic to check that out too. He said it's just my AC making noise, and no major problem. *breathes sigh of relief*
