Am I being tricked?

Am I being tricked?
So my girlfriend and I have been talking about getting a new car in replace of her Contour and this is what I want her to get. She hasn't really told me what she wants, just what she doesn't want which is everything that I want. This has been an ongoing discussion for about 5 months.
Yesterday she tells me, "You know, I don't really care what car we get, I know that you will get something that is nice, will last, hold all are stuff, will be fun to drive, and will be affordable. And I don't think that you would get anything that I really wouldn't like," in a frusturated, I don't want to deal with this anymore tone of voice.
So I'm wondering if you all thought that she was just testing me to see if I care about her wants in a car or only my wants. Tell me what you think.

P.S. What kind of cars were you suggesting to her? RX-7? MR-2? You have a probe GT?

No, I've been realistic about a new car. It has to be 4 doors, nice safe and affordable, then theres the wants for it to have like sunroof, power windows, locks, mirrors, seats, (does the P5 have power seats?)and some other stuff. We've talked about pretty much every car out there and it was like either I was against it or she was against it. We've kind of eliminated or options. Then, I read a book about getting debt free and staying debt free and I cut out of the eqation a Maxima or Mazda 6. If her Contour was better running and didn't need about everything in the world done to it, we would keep that. So.....we started talking about more affordable cars, well, when you eliminate higher priced cars from the list a lot of times, size gets taken off the list too. So, trying to find the larger small cars....you get to the wagons, I've always liked the was that the sport wagons looked and I've read many good things about the P5. So I'm like, lets get a Protege 5 and she instantly says no cause it's a wagon, and I'm like you wanted a minivan, this is just a smaller much more fun to drive one. Basically, I'm stuck trying to convince her to lets get this car when she hasn't added any cars to the list for us to discuss. I've run out of cars, I don't know what else to suggest. Basicly I'm sold on this car, I've owned 2 other Mazda's and they ran great way up into high milage. If you've got any suggestions I'll gladly listen to them. We could get financing for most cars out there but I just don't want to be paying forever, she wouldn't mind.

And yes, I've got a Probe GT

No he is not being tricked. I just said ok get what you want, but when its paid off I get to get whatever car I want. Also the new car will basically be MY car, due to the fact that we will be trading in MY countour for it. Anyways the car will neither be his or mine, it will belong to both of us. My main concern for getting a new car is that there is a lot of room on the inside, because we will have to put the carseat in it. Is the back seat in the P5 big? Because with both of the cars that we have now there is no room for the three of us to be in there comfortably. Car seats take up a huge amount of room. So basically I want a car that is roomy and has a lot of trunk space. Also the car has to look good and be fun to drive. Plus it has to be safe, because it will be the main vehicle that we drive our son around in.

no.. none of the proteges ANYWHERE in the world have power seats... who needs no stinkin' power seats? really if you think about it, power seats is just one more luxury bullshit feature that can break... I mean c'mon, how many times in a year you're going to be adjusting the seat?
as for the child seats... the protege has plenty of room to fit a child seat and it can fit through the doors with no problems

Get a Protege..."a small car that's earned the respect of driving enthusiasts who need to buy a sensible and affordable set of wheels yet don't want to drive something that will bore them to tears." -Edmunds.com
and of course...
"a four-door Miata." -Car and Driver
