But then again, the 2004 EVOs are coming with 300hp. I still think the STi will be quicker though.

I believe the EVO only comes with 280BHP, and costs less than the STi. I believe in CDN funds, it is around $45k? Just a guess here, but the STi I know comes with 300BHP and is $50k up here.

Japan doesn't even get the STi we get!!! For the first time ever we get a better version of a car than they or ANYONE ELSE gets!!
BTW: it has THREE (3) Limited-slip differentials. How the hell does that work?
And it has a manually controlled water sprayer for the IC...thats awesome!

Wow pre-riced from the factory.
I know they have the performance to back it up, but I personally prefer a more subtle look, like a Evolution with NO wing. Or the new Audi S4.
One thing that bothers me is that they made the WRX STi by not adding boost but also displacement. Can't blame them, since it may be the only way to keep emissions down.
The overseas STi is still the 2.0L boxer 4. And I read long ago that 2.0L is the max engine displacement for WRC cars.
Seems like the WRX like the Evolution is a watered down version.
But despite of this, it's a good start for Subaru.
I like the Lancer better though, more torque down low from the 4G63 inline-4. And its relatively devoid of driving aids, making the car more pure and enjoyable IMO, and it looks better too.

Dude, more displacement is NOT a bad thing! It's just more overhead to make future HP. There should be a small torque gain on the low end from the larger displacement as well, it's win win!!!! Although I AM just guessing, I'd like to see a dyno compare between the two.

im more of a mitsu guy my self... i really like the EVO, not really the 8, but i like the evo6 personally. but i would take a STi anyday
but if i were to choose one, id take the evo, and swap out the evo7 tail lights (been done, looks gorgeous) and put jdm evo badging on the back deck....
otherwise, i believe both cars are almost perfect stock!
