Hey, all out there...
Just found this forum and looked through some of your all threads..
I have an old 1990 Protege 4wd and am looking to put a system into it. I've got most the components, but am a little inexperienced at wiring and where what connections go where. Does anyone out there have an existing wiring diagram I can follow for my car to hook up a CD deck, speakers, amps, subwoofer, and crossover? Or where I can find such a diagram that is relitively easy to read? I know electronics and can read a wiring diagram, but I'm not sure where the best place to put the wiring, or where I should hook this or that (such as, where should the ground cables go or the fuses, etc.) If anyone can help me, it would be very appreciative!

I had one question, however, was that what would be the best way to add a crossover unit into your existing wiring diagram? What kind of outputs would you use from the deck to the crossover, etc?

What makes you want to buy my Protege 4wd?
I will admit, I love the car when I was living up in Alaska. The car will go ANYWHERE. It runs through miles of deep mud as if it was on pavement and cuts through snow like a knife through butter. It has the best traction I have ever known in any kind of vehicle and even has that center differential that puts the car into true 4x4 mode. I have yet to get stuck, and after just going through this blizzard here in Denver (where it snowed a good 2-3, if not more feet of snow) I am still amazed at it ^_^.

 

Where in Alaska did you live? The 4wd must have been nice for large snow falls. I live in Wasilla and are largest snowfall was like 6 inches this year. Most of the time it has been sunny and in the 40s.

I lived in Fairbanks, 5 hours drive north of ya (though, you probably knew that). When it DID snow huge amounts, that little 4wd protege had no trouble getting through the snow. My parenets were so impressed with the car that they found another just like it and bought it. They still own it and use it in the winter time. I now, however, live in Colorado; packed most my stuff in that protege and drove it down here. Funny, I thought these cars were supposed to be unreliable (according to the FAQ on these pages) but it has been just great.
