Are clear marker lights legal?
Does anyone know for sure if clear marker (bumper) lights are even legal in Canada. Right now I am assuming they aren't but, am I wrong? Help. I want to do this mod but I don't won't to get nabbed by the po-po's for it.
You have to REFLECT (i.e. does not need to be an electric light) amber from the side of the car near the front, and you have to REFLECT red or amber from the side of the car at the rear (I could be wrong about the amber option on the rear...)
This is why clear corners are not legal unless you have an additional amber reflector near the front on the side.
This is also why the "Altezza" tailights have the much-maligned red reflector strip built into the outside edges.
This is Transport Canada regs, I'm sure the US DOT has similar requirements.
I found this information on the Transport Canada website (www.tc.gc.ca) when I installed my clear corners, but I'll be damned if I can find it now (government websites are as easy to access as government itself!).
For what it's worth, I have had clear corners for six months, and have never been tagged for it...

Clears ARE legal.
In the front, you can have a white light in the clear signal/marker too, as well as amber. In the rear, you can have red or amber, that's it.
For side markers, you can get away with a white light in the rear, but for rear turn signals, no way you would get away with it.
