high idle

my car when it cold starts it high idles but when it cools down i dont have a problem with it does any one know how to fix this

Are you trying to say that when it is cold it idles high and then when it gets WARM it idles down??

ive got this going on too, mine may idle as high as 1500 but eventually warms up and idles down at 750

I have never seen a car - other than with a carburated engine and manual choke - that does NOT do this.

It's warming your engine up. You've never noticed that before??

ya i know most cars idle high at like 1500 rmps when its cold but not 3000 rpms and it takes like 10 mins for it to go down to normal of 1000 rpms

mine does the same only no matter if its cold or not. it goes up to about 2-2500 rpm and takes about 5 min to go down to idle. does anyone know whatthe hell this is!

what about when it 98 degrees out and it does this for 5 mins it isnt warming up its getting hot! not just 1500 rpm but 2000-2500

Doesn't seem like that would be any more harmful than starting your car up and driving away. That's about what it would be turning anyway if you were driving.

but my idle speed is high and i have to drive for a few min and throw it in to N at stop signs for it to go down. i throw it in to N at stops anyways cuz my car vibrates idles erratically.
