Well you see I wanna burn a song onto a cd but I dont actually want the whole song, just half of it, how do I go about doing that? Does that make more sense?

You could maybe try to find a downloadable version of "sound Forge"made by sonic foundry. It will do what you need, but might be hard to find.....sorry thats all i know

yeah i have a full external midi setup and use a roland d12 groovebox and oxygen midi controller for most of my stuff, but for software beat-makers... look for reason or rebirth, both made by propellerhead. one is a groove maker, and one its more of a synth. those 2 programs and record into acid- good stuff

ender-
look for anything with a wave form editor- thise way you can select what you want, save it as a wave form, and and then burn it. you can do it in acid 3.0 or higher... for ex.
