the crutchfield kit is sweet. I got that too it is a scoche. Hey did you use a metra wiring kit. Did you connect the power antenna control wire? I did after realizing we do not have power antennas. Any issues leaving it connected?

using the same kit, piece o' cake for install....no rattle at all and my cell phone and can of Kodiak fit right in!

I wouldn't mind swapping it for the one that holds CD's from Scosche......oh well

Is that kit with the pocket the only option to filling the space when putting in a deck the size of 1 din?

You have lots of options for the extra space - since it is another DIN opening (unless you use the kit shown above):

- Use the kit shown in this thread - you may be able to find a 1/2-DIN size EQ to fill the pocket, too - not sure about the size, tho.
- Use an aftermarket filler pocket that is DIN size
- Get your hands on the covered pocket from a '99-'00 Protege, or from the MP3 or MazdaSpeed Pro - pricey from the dealer, but a perfect fit (I have this, and it's very nice).
- Another DIN component, like an EQ, DVD, flip-out screen, etc. etc.
- Custom make a plate for the area and put gauges in there, like oil pressure and temp, etc.
- Anything else you could think of the fill the space!

I think it goes around after the deck is in... not sure myself though, just figured I'd figure it out when the time comes.

Some ISO-DIN decks do not come with a trim ring - that ring allows for mounting of either the standard type deck (with its own trim ring) or other styles of DIN stereo that have no trim ring, and are meant for mounting "from behind".

***Heh heh - he said "mounting from behind", heh heh***
***settle down, Beavis****

Just installed it today! Looks pretty good. The old HU was a pain to remove, it is massive. I removed the plate for the MP3/Cassette and stuck my hand in there for leverage. By the way, I mounted the pocket on top so the HU would be closer to the shifter. I did this so I could change stations a little quicker while my hand was on the shifter. I did not use the trim ring because the face of the Blaupunkt was too big.
