Need to disconnet battery for intake?

I need your expertise. I was told that I should disconnect the battery for about 5 minutes or so and then reconnect it after installing my HKS Magna Flow intake. It is suppose to reset the computer to recognize and adjust the new amout of air going into the filter. Is this true? If so, should I disconnet and reconnect it when the engine is cold (such as before starting up the car in the morning) or should I do it when the engine is warm (after driving for at least 5 minutes)? Thanks for your help

yes you should reset your ecu......it will prevent you from getting a "check engine light" that is SOMETIMES gotten when you put on a new intake....

here is what you do.....first remember to remove the NEGITIVE terminal of the battery.....get in your car....then mash the brakes a few times....this discharges a few capacitors in the system....

NOW do the install of your intake.......once you are done with the install.....THEN put the negitive terminal back on your battery....start the car...and allow it to idle for about 10 minutes...

you are ready to go....

IF you have already done the intake install....and you are not staring at a CEL.....then you don't need to bother......
