I have a 95 with the 1.5 & automatic. The car has about 55K miles on it. I change the oil every 3K or 3 months, whatever comes first, keep it tuned up, etc. It runs great, doesn't burn oil etc. The only "big" things I've replaced are the two front axles because the boots tore and they started to click when turning. I had a shop change them out for about $200 bucks because I didn't want to deal with the nut that holds them on (I don't have an air wrench), but they only cost $65-70 each, so it wasn't a big difference, and no hassle. As far as bang for the buck, Mazda's don't hold their resale value like a Honda, and they come with a lot of standard equipment, so a used one is THE best bet. You can pick up a pretty new one used, fully loaded for a great price! Of course, the "history"of each car is different, if it seems too good a deal, or used up, it probably is. Used cars are always Caveat Emptor!!!
