Automatic to 5 speed.. concivable?

Is it conceviable to remove my automatic transmission and put in a 5 speed standard? I want more low-end torque, so I can do these fruity 1/4 mile races everyone loves so, but I also like being able to keep a steady high speed.

So what im asking is, price wise, is it smart to remove an automatic and put in a manual + clutch

and

will my top speed be affected by the new transmission?

or

is it smarter to forget the 1/4 mile races and go on with my life?

I HATE LOSING

start racing from a roll more often...i have no problem hanging with some of the more known imports from a roll...up to a certain point of course...you just need to accept we have cars with about 100hp IF that...just have fun and dont take losing so serious...you have many years and years to have a fast car...chill and have fun man...i went from a 1989 Mustang GT 5.0 5 speed to a 4 cylinder...if i can do that you can handle being slow for now lol...
