Almost done...

hi all,

I've almost finished installing my sound system. Just waiting on my NECVOX screen to complete the front. I still also have to vinyl the top of the sub box and the board holding the cap. You should see the pic of the trunk as it currently stands.

If not, here is the link.

Very nice work, man!

I agree with OH - a little tidying up of the wires around the cap and inverted sub, and you will have one schweet install.

Good job.

thanks for the input. Subs are 12" DVC (4+4) and the box gives about 0.8 cu ft per sub. It seemed a liitle small but it sounds good (alpine recommends 0.7-1). Yes, it looks a little messy right now and i have to clean up the wires. Also, I have to drill in the back of the cap rack and then vinyl it. I got my NECVOX screen today, i should get it installed later today. One problem i'm having is that i'm getting buzzing when i run my DVD players RCA outs into my alpine 7893 RCA ins. I'm running the DVD off a power inverter connected to the cig lighter and i think this is the problem cause the buzz is not there if i attach the dvd to an external power source. I'm hoping a ground loop isolator will solve this problem. Did anyone have this prob?

What do you mean by external power source? When i mentioned it, i meant that i ran a power cord from my garage to the dvd player in the car. The DVD player takes 6.3V DC so i tried one of those cig lighter adaptors but the only voltages they allow in that range are 6V and 7.5V. At 6V it wasn't giving enough power to the DVD. At 7.5V it blew the fuse in the adaptor. The only option is to get the inverter to work somehow or get a new DVD which runs off 12V. That would suck though.

Looks great. Hide some wires and a real good job. Why did you run one sub inverted? Why not do both? The reason I ask is because the one sub you have normal is displacing airspace. You said you have .8 and need .7 to 1.0 well that driver displaces alot of air and puts you on the lower end of of you range. I build boxes for a stereo shop here in Maine, just thought I would put in my 2 cents.
