Oil + Sparkplug = BAD

What could be the possible causes for oil on a spark plug? I was told that it could be a rubber gasket that the spring for the valves sits on or that it could be the compression rings (rings that go arounf the piston) Anyone have any other suggestions? If and when I take it to be repared; what should I replace while the motor is out? I have a 1.8L DOHC in a 1995 2nd Gen ES

Looking from the header at the valve cover it DOES look like there isn't much of a gasket. I already checked the price for that and its 13.49 I should buy it. Thanx Bruce

I highly doubt that it is the valve cover gasket. If the gasket were to fail, he would be seeing leaks coming out not through the spark plugs. One of the major culprits would be the Spark Plug Grommets, or as you say Pollito, the valve grommets. If it were the rings, your compression would be low....real low. Have you done a compression test?

Regards,

Oz
