Injen’s Intake on 2002 MP5

I would like to know , how has this improved your car proformance.
I would like your input, what you like and dislike.
Thanks ,
Why is because I would like to get some input on this from people now, not from some string that happin 3 weeks ago.
Or do a search.

i felt a big difference in pull wiht mine. also just a little help if you get the injen on(don't do with stock intake) pop that honeycomb out. after installed my CAI i drove with it in and out and wihtout was definatly better. plus it makes it louder. i've noticed that the MP5's do run a little rich and by popping that honeycomb out it leaned it out a little and made it stronger. its a good to try cause its free and you can just pop it back in if oyu don't like it out cause it definatly makes it louder.

most any engine mods for these cars are truely cosmetical, easy install, even with the "do-this-that-bolt" instructions, sounds cool, thats about it

I dislike the 3-5whp gain

So someone else finally posted about the intake 'screen' in the MAF. I took that out when I put on my aftermarket intake also. It does a lot more than make it loud, it removes a restriction. The reason it's louder, is because you are moving more air.

yea i realize why it makes it louder. i pulled all the honeycombs out of my mas in my DSM so once i got my injen it was a most definate. i really like the way it revs quicker. i wonder how many people have actually taken it out on this board hmmmm......

Where are these screens located and can I remove them with having just the stock intake?

if you take out the MAF and look into it you will see i plastic thing that looks like a waffle almost. just take a screw driver or something similiar and pop that ************ out. i wouldn't do it with the stock intake cause there isn't enough airflow and you'll probably end up loosing power, but you can try it if you want.

Thanks for the reply.

I removed the front part of the intake (the piece that goes from the box to the front bumper and rests on the radiator) I did not notice any power really, just a deeper sound. I will probably put back on. I was just ******* around the other day and ripped it off. Any one know if that increases enough airflow to remove the waffle thinger and get a little power?

leave the resonater off. if you remove the "waffle thing" with stock air intake it wont help and may hurt. wait to do it until you can get maximum air flow

I took it off and drove around for a day. Did not notice any extra noise or any difference in power at all. I will put it back on in the mourning. What the hell is the things purpose? Protect the MAF when it is removed or from objects if you think you bad by not using a filter?
