What are reputation points?
 

I just clicked a little icon that looks like a balance in the lower left-hand corner of my post and a window popped up saying something about 'reputation points'.

Searched it on the FAQ and got nothing. What are they? How are they determined?

Always wondered the same thing on other boards. We never used to have it here before until about a month ago but they don't seem to change a bit.

The system for rep was 'turned on', but never configured.

Normally we are supposed to be able to give out rep to people who deserve it (like a kudos). In the same fashion, we would receive rep.

That's what the little green square is under the post count.

The problem is, we can't seem to be able to click the 'scales/balance' thing for anyone else except ourselves.

Since you can't give yourself rep points, the system is a little broken.

The whole idea of rep points is a little broken. . On the other Protege club, someone started a reputation thread, and we all gave each other millions of rep points. whee!

Worthless, IMO, but if I had the power to change it, it'd probably be no biggie to turn it on.

it lets me give rep to anyone?

I can also see rep that I've received.. but I don't think the squares are indicative of anything.. maybe not until rep scores are higher up?

But it still won't let you give rep to anyone? It must be set up to only let mods/admins give it?

i cans only give infractions ;)

infractions which are permanently visible on the user cp page even after they expire :'( I feel like such a criminal lol

No, what you said is correct, normal users can't give out rep points. I have 10 to give, but can't. It must be locked out for non-mods or something.

i think that would be neat to have the whole system working. they should really fix that.
