Website suggestion....

Okay, I went to my bank today and saw that they had a little map of the world, and if you wanted to, you could put a little pin on the part of the world where you came from which was pretty interesting...

Reading some different regional posts, I came up with an idea...

Why don't we make a map of North America and put little dots whenever somebody from a certain area signs up, and when you move the mouse over the dot or click on it, the user's nickname, car info, etc. pops up. For the people outside of North America, we get a different map since let's face it, there's isn't that many on this board just yet. What do you people think about that idea? That way when somebody's planning a trip or has a business thing to go to in a different area they can check who lives nearby, meet up, etc. It'd be very interesting also to see the number of protege owners in certain areas......

No, Yes?

I'm willing to help out in any way I can, but I'm sure that there's more capable people on the website

I know that during NBA games they have a similar thing on their website, you move the mouse over a little dot and then it tells you "Kobe Bryant 3:12 Second quarter, shot missed"

Well its a good idea and a big pain in the ***. Lots of Image Mapping with coded into the user DB somehow.

Or we could just break up the map into states/provinces and put little dots or little numbers indicating the number of people in each, and allow people to click on them and then it takes them to a list of people and their locations....

Microsoft MapPoint 2002

Hey guys and gals. This map sounds like a great idea. I also wanted to throw something in here. I don't know enough about the product, but Microsoft MapPoint 2002 is very good at maps and directions, etc. I just don't know if there would be a way to tie it's functionality into a web page that people could update.
