Racing Capability
I was just wondering if there is any cars out
there that a 2nd gen pro can beat in a race. I have a 96 pro auto and for it to only have 92 or so hp it's pretty quick. A friend has a 94 civic dx and his seems kinda slow. But enyways, does anyone out there have a 95 or 96 that has won a few races? |
ok, cool.
that makes me feel alot better. I just didnt want to get out here and someone try to screw with me and then me try to race them and get left in the dust.:D |
my 97 1.8 can hold its own against a couple of civics and a teg I tried and they wanted to know what I had done when we stopped.
|
i rarely street race but i taken out:
92 civic b16a 94 audi a4 95 accord v6 92 legend v6 01 chevy malibu 01 subaru impreza 2.5 rs |
ya sup guys. I've raced a couple of times usually at Darlington International Dragstrip in Darlington, SC. I've only beat two cars so far, Ford ZX3 and a Chevy Xtreme. Unfortunately,my car is running 18.5s at the track with my friend Chevis driving. The best I've had was a 19.3. I'm thinking that This could have been caused by the flowmaster I had and the exhaust leak. I'm not sure if my slow times can also be in result of my gutted cat which takes out backpressure. I'm just wondering if anyone has raced in the track. I have a 1995 1.5l Protege and it's a stick. I've got the intakea s well. One thing about the intake. On the intake manifold there is a adjustment screw to control the Air/Fuel Mixture. I'm wondering where some of the people who have the intake has the screw set at. Either completely up (open) or completely down (closed) or in between. Well Let me know when you guys got a chance.

dude he wanted to know about 1.5L's beatin people... of course you can... your car kicks @ss us lowly 1.5's are more restricted on who we can beat... |
:D lol:D
How is it that a 95 or 96 pro is a stick but has a 1.5 engine? Didnt the stick come with a 1.6l? Just curious because alot of ppl have been talking about their 1.5's with sticks. Also, like someone had stated before, mine says special edition on the door jamb. What's that mean? |
considering in the states that the only engines available are 1.8L in the se or es edition and the 1.5L in all other editions of the 95-96 protege that would explain why no one talks about 1.6L's cause they do'nt exist
|
i believe the 1.6l came out in 99. all 2nd gens were either 1.8's or 1.5's.
|
ok well that shyows you that im a dumbass:D
but as i was saying, sticks didnt come with the 1.5's did they? |
if i had a stick and a1.8 i'd be the happiest guy alive right now... well maybe not that happy but still...
i have a 1.5 with stick.... as does bruce and many others |
what edition are they? es?
i've never heard of a lx or dx with them. when you say stick do you mean manual or automatic? some ppl get confused.:) |
Well as we all know, the ES models of the 2nd gen all come with the 1.8l's. To my knowledge, manual tranmissions can come with any edition. I've seen 1.5l's with automatic, one of my friends locally and one with manual... Me....
Stick = Manual Drive .. |
k. thanx. didnt know that.
how much slower is a auto compared to a stick in the 2nd gen 1.5's? could the auto keep up at topend? also, since i couldnt get a reply from my other post can you or someone tell me a good muffler that i could purchase for under $200? |
ok thanx, i didnt know that
can the 2nd gen 1.5 autos keep up in topend vs. the manuals? also, i couldnt get a reply in one of my other threads so im gonna try here. can someone please tell me a good muffler that i could buy for under $200? thanx. |

Well then man, on the intake manifold there is a screw that controls something What i think maybe that controls the flow of the intake.

I talked to a friend earlier and he told me
to just buy a muffler of my liking and replace the pipe from the header to the catalytic c. with a 2" pipe and the same with the pipe from the converter to the new muffler. he says it can raise my hp from anywhere to 7-10 hp. is this true? he's had many tuned cars before. he had a honda accord that ran 10's. pretty cool. he also told me about that resistor that goes into the manifold that tells the computer that a constant flow of cold air is coming in. he said before he had put it in his 92 accord, he couldnt churp the tires going into 3rd gear. but after he put it in he could. he also said it knocked i think a second or two off his quarter of a mile run. |

And in a Honda, you might gain a tenth in the 1/4 mile, but I can tell you right now that it won't knock of a second or two off a 1/4 mile run. Not even a full ECU. As for the exhaust giving 7-10hp. I doubt 10. I could maybe believe the 7, but I'm not too convinced, without a header. |
o, im sorry. my fault.
it knocked a sec off with the intake and the resistor. o by the way, over in the apartments where he lives, there's nothing but mexicans that live there. [nothing against mexicans] Every car there that is owned by one is hooked up in some sort of way. There's a old lady there that does all the body work for them. She custom made special kits and everything! I'll try to take some pics soon so that yall can see this shit. They painted a 95 mitsu eclipse orange, the WHOLE THING! even the muffler. |
1.6
we got 1.6 engines here where i am in both autos and manuals
also we have awd versions all are 2nd gens |
All motors on all proteges in the U.S. have come with the option of either manual or (for more money) automatic. It might not be true with some of the ES-GT canadian models but I suspect it is.
|
i wish we had awd versions.... that would rock
|
not without a lot more horsepower :(
|
anyone have a 4wd pro?
|
awd
a guy downstairs where i work got a 2nd gen awd lantis i'll take a pic sometime
