Actually you can get over 180whp on the Neon's SOHC. Takes a lot of work when NA, but people are doing it on Neons.org. (Cams, CPU, I/H/E, etc.)

There's some with the DOHC getting over 200whp. But the big thing now is the 2.4l swap.

I'm not saying you're wrong or anything. It's just hard to believe that you can gain an additional 70 horses from a NA SOHC engine.

From a stock engine, I can only see a gain of maybe 40 extra horses. This includes port/polish block, different cams, adjust timing, lighter pistons, crankshaft and so forth. Remember this is with a base neon engine WITHOUT force induction or spraying.

Even by changing the CPU can only add an additional 14-15 hp TO THE CRANK which may average out to 9-10 hp to the wheels. And that's if it's accepted and will work with the changed mods in the engine.

But I only see extreme racers doing that. bucause of the money involved.

Like I said, it's not easy. And racers are pretty much the only people doing it. I just wanted to say that it is possible.

The cpu does add around 10whp. It does work with other mods. The stock cpu is used when going turbo.

But, I just wanted to say it's possible.

Ok, I will adjust my previous statement. It is possible, just highly unlikely. Now days, anything is possible with cars. You can probably shoehorn a Mustang Cobra's engine inside a Mazda Miata or something.

Anything is possible these days, for instance the ford focus and the V-8 conversion.

Damn, just think how sweet it would be to have a compact car with a V-8. Heres the link for some more pics on the swap.http://www.tcf-v8-focus-conversions.com/Phils-car.htm

There are Pintos with 5.0 V8s. There are V8 Beetles.

I once saw a Hyundai in SCC magazine with 2 engines. I think it used ethanol, too.

To sum it up, this is the best time ever to be an auto enthusiast.

Well, there was no SXT package in 2000 either. Only Base, SE, and ES. SXT i'm thinking didn't come out until 2002 model year. SXT is merely an appearance package anyway.

But getting back on subject. There's no chip that will give a Neon 35whp.
