your MSP would run a 9 second quarter to get away from the PT ugliness.

right... HAHA
My friend (Ray) was telling me this guy(?) was at his renter's house(Anthony), wanted to race Ray's chevelle (~13.2 1/4mile). Ray's transmission is leaking, so he will not race. Anthony says "this guy up the road has a mazdaspeed, he'll probably race you". The guy ask what size motor it has? Ray tells the guy i probably won't race, but he does call me to ask what size motor i had (he knew it was 2 something...) I told him, nah, dont wanna race a pt (mainly b/c i have the slightest idea how much power/fast they are). I checked online this morning, says they run 0-60 7.5 secs. - and dragtimes, they are all 14.3 or so.. *supposedly stock* - 220hp or so... which is funny, b/c that's about what stock srt-4
s run... so anyway, I would race him, if i could walk off and leave him... hate to have a close race with a PT :P

I've been raped by one. Didn't know it was a turbo, stood at a light with him and he straight had me w/no lube. I was like wtf? When I caught back up to him...he put his window down and said it's turbo'd and he upped the boost....i couldn't even hear him blowing off or anything! Well...I was stock...and slow...and still slow now.

depends on the race....straight line race? he'd probably get you...maybe....in a turn it wouldn't be close. My stock P5 left one in a turn coming back from N. AL on one of those long sharp U-ramps...I shot over on the inside and punched it....dude looked like he was gonna roll it.

p.s. are all PT Loser Turbos automtic? if so you might have a better chance if he's stock.

would be a straight race, slightly downhill - no curves - of course, i know i would pwn the curves.

so basically, would boil down to how good the drivers are.

oh, and manual is standard:

Transmission gear ratio (1st) 3.92
Transmission gear ratio (2nd) 2.21
Transmission gear ratio (3rd) 1.46
Transmission gear ratio (4th) 1.11
Transmission gear ratio (5th) .88
Transmission gear ratio (reverse) 3.62

Auto is optional.

Engine liters 2.4
Intercooled turbo
Cylinder configuration I-4
Horsepower 215-hp @ 5,000 rpm
Torque 245 lbs.-ft. @ 3,600 rpm <-- hmmm...

if he's an automatic and you're somewhat decent at shifting I'd think you'd do fine.

lighten the car as much as possible....switch down to some 16" ES/P5 wheels, lower the front tire pressure a little 25psi or so. Get those front and rear mounts installed. make sure both cats are removed from the exhaust. Disconnect your ac belt (or switch belts so you retain PS), replace spark plugs and run a half gallon of Xylene in your gas when you fill up.

Enjoy.

HAHA
Shifting - check - 1st/2nd shift is "stiff" - Kartboy's on the way to help this, i hope
Wheels - would have to talk my wife into lett'n me use hers, right....
Cats - check - gone...
Motor mounts - pending
race? sure, hold on.. let me put my rac'n belt on...
spark plugs - i do need to do this...
Xylene - adds octane value, right?

Xylene is one of the two explosive ingrediants in gasoline...it's also common household paint thinner. About $4-9 per gallon. It's octane rating is about 112-115. Here's my race gas mix for running lots of boost or nitrous.

6 gallons of 93 octane
+
1 gallon of 115 octane Xylene
_________________________

7 gallons of 96octane.

96 octne should be plenty to hold off detonation no matter how hot it is.

p.s. Also set up one of those super cheap $5 intercooler sprayers.... I've seen a lot of people talking about using their washer fluid line to spray on the intercooler at full boost. The alcohol in the fluid evaporates quickly and pulls a lot of heat from the IC.

these are all kinda freebie mods.

i would think an upgraded SMIC with hard pipes would be just as effective....especially if you use the sprayer on it.
