wow they compare it to an sti. now for the cobalt

http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...let_cobalt_ss/

to paraphrase - way better than the cavalier and then, direct quote, For all of this goodness, the Cobalt SS still doesn't quite have the athletic edge of the slower, less-refined Focus and Mazda 3. The Cobalt's electric power steering smothers most of the road feel, and the thick, vibration-absorbing rim of the steering wheel takes care of the rest. The SS is really terrific when you drive it fast, but there's magic in the Ford's communicative steering that the Cobalt can't capture.

man...they made a kinda quick car thats boring to drive. awesome
Nice cherrypicking articles to reinforce your views. If you hate a certain car you will onyl find people and articles that give it a bad review. The truth is, you and that roddimus person are ignornant of the car and only know what a magazine or commerical tells you about it. You call yourselves car enthususiats
Also, I used to own an SVTF and I'll say that the focus' steering is not better than the SS.
FYI, did you know there are two different cobalt SS's? Both have the same body kit, exhaust tip, rims, and badges. I'm betting most you don't even know that.

i looked at an ss when i bought my p5, and i bought the slower car because it w as more fun to drive, and was nicer looking. and ZOMG REALLY? TWOOOOOOOOOOO WHOOOOOOOOOO KNEWW!!111one. yes we all knew. i also had a cobalt rental and was not pleased. its an ok car for what it is, but it cant compete with its competitors, and as such its not even included in shootouts

That's really what Mazda is all about. They're honestly the only manufacturer (outside of Germany or Italy) that puts driving feel as #1 on the priority list, and it shows in every single car they produce. It doesn't matter what car you're talking about, or from what era, the Mazda in a certain segment always 'feels' better than it's competition. That's also the reason why they have such a loyal enthusiast following.

^^ well said. Even the 5 and MPV feel "stimulating" to drive. Though I don't like how isolated the 3's steering feels, it's lightyears more "involved" than the Corolla or Civic.

Mazdas are such a small segment of cars sold in the states, yet they make up something like 40-50% of all cars raced (not counting drag racing or nascar.. real racing such as autocrossing, road courses, etc). crazy

zoom-zoom for life! I've only owned mazdas, and I can't see myself owning anything else at this point. They're just a friggin blast!

LOL I don't think you knew there's two different SS's. It's even harder to tell now because both versions now share the same wing. I like how you compare the base model cobalt to the SS I've seen a base model 3 and it was just as garbage as the base model cobalt. yes, the base model cobalt is garbage. I hated the rental i had as well. You guys really need to know your enemy. BTW, I looked at a speed3 as my next car but, after readin about the dude with his engine falling out, I think I'll buy a better car= '03-'04 cobra

I've sat in a Cobalt SS (supercharged) and it's interior was just as garbage, the panels were just as ill-fitting, and the ride quality was trash.

solid beam rear suspension anyone? might as well throw leaf springs on it while you're at it, cut some more costs..

Test drove both SS's? If you did, what are the specs on both? Also, my brother-in-law test drove the MS3 a month ago. He told me when he got home that it felt about the same as the SS in terms of speed. I'm saying that to show that everyone has their own opinons. He ended up buying a regular 3 because he wanted a fully loaded MS3 (which the dealer didn't have).
BTW, for $525 you can buy the GM stage II kit, which bumps hp to the level the Time Attack cobalt had on Street Tuner Challenge (264hp 230 tq). And it's covered under warranty. I'd say that's a nice power bump for the money. I loved it when I had it installed on my car.

ss is the 173 horse 2.4 ecotec, ss supercharged is 205. and yes, the ms3 is WAY faster than the c obalt, its just more refined. in any case its not relevant to this particular thread so case closed. you like cobalts, 26 other people that had their parents buy them for them do to. now lets go back on topic and stop being a troll eh?
