Cool Got spanked by a worthy opponent!

Well, I got spanked by a BMW 320ci, but I think I surprised him. It all started perfectly gentlemen like... We both stopped at a red light. I ignored him for a bit, then I looked over admireing his car. I oooed for about a half a second when I noticed he was looking directly at me. I think he saw me look forward and slide the shifter into 1st (I have dark tint) We waited for what seemed eternity. We didn't even move...I toyed with the thought that he realized his car was greater than mine and wouldn't even bother(if I were him I'd laugh the situation off!) The light when green and We launched(Mine was better!) When it was all over, He was a full car length ahead(my front bumper equal to his rear bumper)
I am surprised the Bimmer wasen't quicker!

The "normal" BMW's aren't all that fast. Faster than average, slower than sports cars.

Now the M3/M5 is a different story

Is your car moded cause if u only were a car length back he musthave not been flooring it and he was messin with you. And yes a "normal" bmw would woop a protege more than a carlength. My grand marquis beat (my friend was driving the protege) my protege more than a carlengthand its no bmw.

94-DX....

BMW 318s and 320s are actually not that fast. The 318s put out somewhere around 145 hp, and the 320s aren't much faster at all. Factor in the extra weight (they're heavier then our Pros), and you got a close race that bimmer wins in the end by a bit.

good job rEbel

actually!

Being the BMW nut that I am. The 318 only has 120 hp and the 320 is known as "the poor man's BMW". 318=1.8 litre and 320=2.0 litre. A new protege can take both of those easy, especially since they haven't made a 2.0 liter engine in quite a long time. I've easily taken 323 in my car. Look out for 325's and up, you'll get into trouble there.

320i has 168hp and 155ft torque. they are pretty slow actually. does 0-60 in 8.7MT and 9.8 in auto.

i edged out a couple of 330i autos in my TL, they are pretty quick.

Talking Huh!

In the States they haven't made the 320's since the early 80's and I thought that was what Makaveli was talking about. As far as Canadian numbers, I don't know. If you can get your hand on a copy of "Bimmer" magazine, distributed by BMW Car Club of America, take a look in the back and it's got the stats for every BMW ever made. Hope that helps.
