it will do a pretty good job vs a 3rd gen 2.0... if it has a stick
:withstupi I have no idea about the SI |
Originally posted by tonkabui i got beat by one of those. damn things are quick! got him in first, but by the time my auto shifted to second, he was already a half car length ahead. by the end of second, he was a car length ahead. by third, umm... i got flashed. hee hee. oh well. let's just say it was pretty embarrassing. (sarcasm, i know its called VTEC) |
SI
I have raced a 2000 SI numerous times. My boy owns one. That car is SICK. Especially with you driving an automatic. That si when the VTEC kicks in is no joke and its getting like between 150-170 at the wheels with no mods...the odds are against you. If you win, Laugh hard at that guy for being a horrible driver!!

a 99-00 Si has 160hp, which is more than any stock protege.
160hp doesn't make a car go fast though...quicker than a protege; yes, but fast; no. |

you think Im crazy??
The 2000 civic si was in the same class as the WRX. When the WRX came out thats when the value of the SI's droped. The SI does have 160hp. It is the equivelent of The MSP of our car. It is the Civic beefed up. It is not a type R but I driven that car. And its damn fast!!. My friend traded it in for a prelude though.
That SI is a sick little 4 banger dude! http://www.dcsports.com/Dynosi.html Check it out!! |
i dont think its 160 at the wheels, i think its 160 at the crank. i might be wrong tho.
|
Dyno
A dyno measures at the wheel doesn't it?? I think, im not sure but that link is deffinately dyno. I hate talking about civics in here anyway lol. I mean its a good car, but its just to common. That is why I choose the protege.
|
I thought the b16a (the engine in the Honda Civic SI ) made 111lb/ft at the wheels making that dyno impossible since it makes more at the wheels than the crank.

alot of dynos do flywheel hp. i dunno bout that one. im just guessing.

Last summer i tryed to piss off a buddy with a si civic. I saw him and i downshifted and got alot of speed then i cut around him and he punched it. I must say i was going like 15 mph faster than him and my car had a hard time passing him. I cut infrount of him with maybe a foot. And it took some time for me to even get a foot on him. I have a 93 lx 5 speed protege i really wouldnt try to race one in a sohc automatic. You better hope he misses 2nd a few to many times...He had a 2000 si with intake exhaust that i know of .. What did he have Ben?...Jon
|
yeah shawn was pretty stock. intake exhaust. and a lot of cosmetics. i think he was all show. but none the less you dont have a shot in hell with a dx sohc. i have a 1.6 dohc 5-speed. and walked all over a sohc dx. and im sure as shit not gonna beat an si civic.

Aren't the hp and torque curves supposed to intersect at 5252 RPM? hp = (torque x RPM)/5252 That dyno plot looks like :bsflag: |
