protege 5/2.0L sedans Injen CAI Group Buy
I am working on arranging a group buy for the Injen Race Division Cold Air Intake for Proteges with the 2.0L engine. This will fit 2001 ES, all 2002 sedans, and all protege 5. I need roughly 5-10 others to agree to this group buy, and I will take care of the rest. You can either reply here or PM me if interested!

ok, so we have a potential seller. but I need 8 more people to jump on board. this seller has not disclosed their price, just that they will beat 200 a pop. This is an awesome deal. this CAI retails at like 350, but can be found (if your lucky) for 250, and this is 200 shipped!

it only comes in blue red or polished as far as i know, i have been looking into polished, is that a problem for you?

I have asked about shipping, as I do not know if they planned on shipping to a single address or multiple. I will keep you all posted. Im thinking I can only do polished, since thats all their website shows, but once again I asked and will keep you posted. |

I checked out the site that you got this pic from and they are selling this product for $245 for the Protege 5. How easy are they to install. Can your "average joe" Take care of installing it with basic tooks. If you can get it for $200 shipped, I guess that is a good price and I might be interested since I am looking for a new intake for my '03 Protege 5.
How does this CAI product work in areas that get a lot of rain and snow. I have heard complaints of using CAI intakes in wet driving conditions????? I have also heard good comments about ingen products...... |

i have yet to install one, as this is the reason for the group buy.
what i have heard: 1) the injen CAI is the best intake on the market for our cars. 2) they are simple to install, take very little time and effort. I have installed other intakes in other cars, but never an injen, never a pro, but i dont think it will be any different. |
one more thing:
unless you submerge it in water it will not have a problem. if you are worried you can spend 50$ and buy a splash guard, or the AEM bypass valve which allows to work while submerged, im not worried about it at all, since i dont plan on driving in a lake |

called my guy but he wasn't there today. i'll try again tomorrow. 200 shipped is an awesome deal... but let's see if i can lower it even more and even have it shipped to individual addresses. so how many people do we have now? three? only seven more! and to everyone asking... the injen comes in three varieties. clear (polished), red, or blue. perhaps you can repaint it yellow if you so desire, but from the factory, it's not that way. the colored ones are more expensive (usually by about 10 bucks), and i'll see if the group buy price will still hold even if we get different colored ones. i'll be in touch. tonka. |

assuming they do ship to canada, i'm sure it will be significantly higher than those of us who are in the continental 48. i'm not sure if they can get around taxes, tariffs, or whatever else they have to go through to get the stuff to you guys. i'll let you know as soon as i know. oh, and let me see if it's going to be cool to add in the 1.6 and 1.8 guys in this group buy since the intake goes for the same. i'll post soon.

Ok, I have two potential sellers telling me 195 shipped. Both of them say they will ship to individual address, but they have not told me about Canada yet. I know at least one of them will charge more for that. Also, they are only offering Polished. The company who I have been dealing with the most insisted on a 10 item pre-purchase. This means I need the money before I can order. The are an Injen Authorized Dealer, so there should be no problem getting the CAIs from them, because we can always go directly to Injen if theres a problem.
tonka: keep us posted on your guys, see if they can beat 195 shipped, possibly throw in canada at that price or something! |

shipping to Canada will be an extra 8$ taking the total to 203 however - this company only offers it in Polished. Im thinking this will be who we go with, unless tonka can get us a better deal. I need to know who is definetly interested in an Injen CAI for a 2.0L in polished, shipped UPS ground to US for $195, or Canada for $203. Prices are in US$ in case you were wondering |
I'd go for polished. The injen I have now didn't fit and I had to hack the damn thing up to get it to work. I put the sensor back on with rubber hose from a semi repair shop, and clamped it down with semit tubing clamps. It does work awesome though. I just want something that looks better. I'd go for it

Also assuming that tonka cant find a better deal. The way this is going to work is you guys are going to send me a cashiers check or money order for the amount. I will have to get exact numbers, but for now say $195, plus 8 for canada. I will compile all the checks and send them to the company, who will in turn ship the CAIs to our repective homes. Once I get the exact price I will post it as well as my address. |

Crap!! I can't get it either. My girlfriend decided to wreck her car in the snow this morning. Now I have to come up with a deductible. This sux. Everytime I save up for something I want something else always comes up.

after looking at the adventon intake it doesnt even look like an injen to me! the filter on all injens is red on top and bottom with a dark red filter. theres is BLACK!

i got in touch with my man from adventon.com. he is going to see what he can do about the price, cause he said they'll match the 195 price but he's going to hold out to see what he can do to make the price even lower.
mp3wannabe, i need to know who gave you the 195 shipped price so i can tell adventon in order for them to match, and even possibly, beat the price. and everyone else who is in on this deal, i need to know for sure it's a "yes" from all those who want this. last i checked, we had 8. i'm not sure if the numbers went down or not, as they often change, but the more of us there are, the more likely we will all get a good deal. i am sure this is going to be the lowest offer from anyone since the price is getting ridiculously low. i don't want adventon or whoever else we are dealing with thinking we are trying to get them into a bid war because it reflects bad on all of us. hope to hear from you all soon. tonka. |

i was just browsing thru the threads and found some idiot who bashed mitch (from protege5online.com) for not sending him an exhaust within 1 week. he dragged mitch's good name through the mud and called him fradulent, going so far as to report mitch to his credit card company and paypal. then he came on the boards and bashed him! what a moron. anyway, i was thinking, if mitch can match 195 shipped, let's get it through him since he is a member of this board and has always taken care of those on here (as can be seen in the mitch bash thread where tons of people came on and defended him.) and i figure, if we keep buying from mitch, he can soon be able to drop his prices to those of the competition, which would be more beneficial for us, since mitch actually owns a protege and can custom tailor each order to make sure we have the appropriate parts. just a thought. tonka. |

Mitch from protege5online.com Got the info today & heres the deal. I've got 1 Polished, 1 Blue & 2 Red intakes in stock. Ready to ship. Dont need 10 to buy, these are ready to go. I would prefer to sell them like this: Polished with Splash Guard 240.00 shipped Red or Blue with Splash Guard - 252.00 shipped. I normally sell the Polished with Splash Guard for about 300.00 shipped. I can do those 4 now if people are ready to buy. Then, if we still have 10 people after those 4 are gone, I'll do 10+ for 195.00 each shipped (but I would need MO payment or add 5.00 for paypal payment) Let me know what you think. That price for those 4 intakes with Splash guard is a great price. I would prefer to sell them with the SG. If someone just does not want the SG at all, I do have the Bypass valve available or if worse comes to worse, I'll work it up without the SG or Bypass valve. I would just prefer to do the Splash guard with the intakes (otherwise, I end up having a stack of splash guards I cant do anything with!) the only problems i forsee with this is that there are only 4, and there are 5 people that said they want one, plus we pretty much have to get the splash guard. |
