hi im from wollongong. bought my sp about 1 yr ago. i love it. prior to that i owned an evo3 replica with 200kw at the wheels and did a mid 12 on the quarter. but i have to say i love the look and stance of my sp. ant wait for the warranty to run out so that a turbo can sneak its way under the hood.

coolsp May-17th-2003 08:55 PM

tail lights.

oh and by the way. i bought some tail lights from a bloke in canada. they are the 6/2002 update ones with the two circles. unfortunately my light sockets do not fit in the back of the light. they are too bloody big. i went to my dealer and he said the light backings are different than the ones in australia. if someone has these lights on their sp could they please send me a pic of their light socket plug so that i may confirm that what the dealer was saying is true.

20OMZ May-18th-2003 08:38 PM

Hey coolSP hows it goin, sick looking SP i wish i had one. I guess one thing that i have found out on this site is that American Protege's are made alot differently then ours here in Australia. I wouldn't bye much from overseas cause of the problems that can be involved with it. did you send it back to them in canada.

there are sick looking gunmetal clear tail lights you can get for your car

http://images.andale.com/f2/130/124/..._protogeGM.jpg

dont know how much they are though... Where is wollongong is that in Victoria????

What happened to your EVO3 that would of been wicked 12's down the quarter now that is fast..... for a 323

coolsp May-20th-2003 02:46 AM

wollongong is 1hr south of sydney.
if i buy those altezzas i will still have the same harness problem.
sold the evo cause it didnt have air and needed to buy a house.

20OMZ May-20th-2003 07:41 AM

How much did ya sell the evo for, i want to bye a fast mazda already done up... i will never sell my mazda i got know though.... i was thinking of bying a R100 shell and wacking a 13b rotor in there HEHE...,

As for your lights i guess you could always cut the wires and put amercan plugs on there if ya wanted them so badly... dont know man man??

hey tresdo3.... its good to see another aussie here... My name is ricky, most people call me tricky he he ( whats yours??).... I have told my dealer that there is a website called protegeclub.com and told him to tell most people about it... Im doing my best to get more aussies, i have a big stinking sticker across the front windscreen sayin Protegeclub.com, ill show photos of it soon... Thanks for all the help with the clear tail lights guys, i ended up getting them but they are hard to put in, there is alot of cutting and stuff to put them in

Ive got some stickers here at my place if ya want them, i got 5 just in case i see some one driving and they are interested..... so far nobody:( but hey well get there and well show those mitshbishi's and hondas what protege's are all about he he.

take care protege members.....

i went to the match on the weekend ( footy ) brisbane bronco's and newcastle nights at the new suncorp stadium and it was f--kin awesome hey, i had an awsome day and i thought that newcastle was going to lose, but they came back to win YESSSSSSSS. i hope NSW can do the same in the first state of origin...

It is so possible to get an australian cruize together.... i have already made good friends with KT0580, and we have ment at the gold coast and chated, so yer i think it is possible.....

the idea of the pamplet it a good idea, when ya get a design give me a copy and ill start doin it around toowoomba aswell...... hope we can get heaps of aussie members it would be wicked...

I think if we are going to advertise Protegeclub.com we need to keep it the same disign, and style, i think that would keep it tidy, thats why i said before to give me a copy of the pamphlet...

can all the members on this site please give me ya names so i can relate to you guys!!!!!!!!!

thanks ladies and gentle men............. zoom zoom

Hello all,

I am also a sydney SP20 owner. I live on the northern beaches.

Wiredone, I have every intention of joining street dreams but everytime you have a cruise I am working or have plans :(

Do you have any pics of the air intake you made and how much would it cost to have one made for me??

cheers
Luke

Zed June-30th-2003 06:34 AM

Hey all,
I'm an SP20 owner on the northern beaches of Sydney as well. I've had it for about a month now and am in the midst of installing a custom stealth SQ audio system - so stay tuned! See you guys 'round!

Zane

KT 0580 July-5th-2003 01:40 AM

Hello guys.

Am from the Northern Rivers area.

Hey Rick do you have any more of those stickers left? I wouldn't mind one.

There isn't many mazda astinas or protege done up around my area. It's a bit sad. I get a few looks when I drive around thou. My most asked question is what sort of car is it? Never mine I have a mazdaspeed sticker on the back window. If any one is out there and going to be around the Northern Rivers area or Gold Coast let me know and we could meet up.

Tunnel_Rat July-24th-2003 10:38 AM

Hi to you all
well just got my new proteqe 03/03 sp20 titanium gray two months ago and have not done much to it 15% window tint all round drop it 2'in with new springs. Fitted some cool new rear tail lights from emtech they just got them in they look like the ones that get around on the monaros not that cheap plastic looking shit from carmate they are too expensive and look really cheap(we are not dealing with a lancer here you now) if you are interested email geoff he will send you a picture(i can not work out how to get a picture from my email to here pc illiterate)www.emtechautomotive.com.au.
Thinking of buying some new wheels with my tax return 17 or 18in if you got any info on how 18 in wheels will go or not some body said because of the low profile tyre that will need to be fitted you can damage a rim? (pot holes)
Can anybody tell me have they done or know of any chipping of the computer or new computers to get a bit more out of it.dunno:

E-Gene July-28th-2003 10:13 AM

I'm looking to get the Protege SP20 but I would like to know a rough estimate on how much I should be paying. I'm located in Melbourne (Am I the first here?) and can someone tell me how much I should be paying?

Tunnel_Rat July-28th-2003 08:38 PM

Screw them to the end

Hey E-Gene this is the fun part screwing the dealers for the lowest price. I had four dealers all competing against each other.
I got it for $27,600- with a set of sp20 sports floor mats and a full tank of fuel. When you buy it do not get anything else from them just the car get your window tinting, rustproofing,or what ever else its cheaper and if you go to the right place it will be a better job. As dealers screw them for a cheap price so you get a cheap job for top dollar (freind works at a holden dealer).
Ok here is the plan you will have to go in to the dealers as they do not like competing on the phone as you will learn they all go to the same selling school the line you will hear 100 times is "WHAT CAN I DO TO GET YOUR BUSSNESS TODAY"
play along with them "YOU GIVE ME YOUR BEST PRICE AND YOU HANE MY BUSSNESS TODAY" stay strong you are dealing with the toughest sales man in the selling game before you go in say to your self NO WAY am i signing now not till you go to at lest four dealers and then you get the lowest price. Go back to first dealer and say can you beat this price from ### dealer you will now have to put on a good act to still walk out with out signing like you just got cold feet and will think about it over nigth and go to the next and so on at the end pick the guy you liked the best and see if he will beat the lowest price or macth it.My lowest price with first dealer was $28,500 and he did not go any lower so he missed out i got a SP20 protege manel titanium gray brand new with sp20 sports mats full tank 6km on the clock$27.600 on road no more to pay. let the fun begin!!:D
hope it helps good luck

E-Gene July-29th-2003 08:52 AM

Hmm...good tactics there. Will have to make a day to go around to the various dealerships.

Thanks for the advice. Will report back on whether I am succussful in joining the Protege family.

Tunnel_Rat July-30th-2003 05:28 AM

Only One day i spent about four days over 3 weeks good luck get back with what you buy and how much. Come on you can beat my price i am sure i could if i had a second chance i think i just gave up too easy at the end.:(
