Mazda's are in Australia

Hello to anyone from Australia

tresdos3 July-12th-2002 12:22 PM

hi Scott whereabout in Sydney are you?:)

the forums members hold weekly cruises and other events

mysp20 July-20th-2002 07:57 PM

Hi there.

I am also in Australia (Melbourne). Do you know of any good places in Australia that sell parts for the SP20. I want to do some modifications but I cannot find any good parts. May have to import them from the US.

tresdos3 July-21st-2002 05:37 AM

what kind of parts?

Ducati July-21st-2002 08:20 AM

Yes I also need some parts for my car 1999 1.6 Protege 323 Wagon. What I need are cheap parts to improve the top end of my car. All it does is 170kph and thats all. Spoke to US Protegetech and thay recommend I increase pipe size and put in a sports filter. Any suggestions to the appropriate pipe size and also filter type. I heard alot of people talking about numerous parts (Engine & Aero Parts) in Hong Kong but I do not know where to go to get the stuff. Care to shed some light on this.

Makaveli July-21st-2002 03:10 PM

Well basically for ideas on what to do, just go to '3rd Gen Drivetrain/Engine' and look around.

You could always ask www.corksport.com what they got for you and if they could ship to your place.

And another Hello from Australia
I am running a Champagne SP20 with some mild mods.
These include a 2" cat-back, sports muffler, K&N panel filter and a Unichip. Goes much better and revs more freely. A good tuning shop should fix you up. I went to Croydon's in Silverwater, Sydney.

Otherwise, bigger wheels, lowered on Kings and a NUTS stereo.

tresdos3 August-14th-2002 08:58 PM

Hey Critter!:)

where is Winmalee?

how much did you pay for the unichip?...did Croydon install it?...have you dynoed the car..if so how much gain did the chip give?

cheers
Cris:)

Critter August-15th-2002 12:24 AM

tresdos3
Winmalee is Lower Blue Mountains outside of Sydney, and you?
Croydon did, $A1100 in and dynoed, 9kw at wheels gained, 70 to 79Kw (close enough).
The big deal is how smoother and more eager it is to drive, revs cleaner. Happy with it :)

tresdos3 August-15th-2002 09:14 PM

i'm not that far from you then..i live in Plumpton which is next to Mt Druitt:)

have checked out the fastfours forums (forums.fastfours.com.au)..the guys from there hold regular cruises and bbq's etc..in fact we recently had a cruise to Katoomba..Bells line of road..and bbq at Katoomba prk..you can see photos of this cruise in the latest fast fours

my car (1.6l) put out 55.5 kw atw..at C&V..that was with a cat back only..so your're dong pretty well with your numbers ;)

while my pro is a bit of a slug it is comparable to a swift gti in terms of performance

how long did it take Croydon to the work?

cheers
Cris

Critter August-19th-2002 03:49 AM

Spent most of the day there, they had to figure out the wiring loom and so on (first one they'd done). They were pretty happy with the numbers we got, especially as we really tuned for best driveability.

Yeah, I have been on a couple of fastfours cruises (the Anzac Day one with the rod club was great) but missed that one with motorsport commitments.

Mostly Sydney, but also around Victoria / Melbourne, Brisbane, and some stops along the way. So mostly I went up the coast of NSW, but I got a tiny bit of Queensland ;)

well im looking into it as well (although after the rain today makes me think twice...lol)

i asked some local people (Magic Mufflers - Brookvale) same people that did my race tuned exhaust and they said $200 but i want something like an Injen kit i can install myself... feel as one with the car...lol

-=SP20=- said that there was somewhere in aus that sold them, but that they were $800 which although expensive i would happily go along with for both quality and the feeling that it is a tried and tested product for our cars...

my 2c... would love to hear of anyone that knows of an australian Injen supplier

-=SP20=- March-12th-2003 01:17 AM

me:
hey there im calling because i heard you guys sell injen cold air intakes for mazda 323 astina sp20's

him:
nah, we got one a while ago but it runs around $900, so it not worht our while

me:
not even if i got them in bulk, eg 5 at a time? there is quite alot od interest in my area

him:
nah, its not worth our time, as we get no mone out of it, anyway i got work to do so i gotta go

me:
ok bye

him:
beep beep beep beep

seemed kinda rude but much to the point... there you go. but if anyone is interested pm me as i have found someone that can get em for around $470 a piece, yeah expensive for an CAI but hey its an injen, you can be the cool dude with the intake noone else in aus has... =p

TDK March-26th-2003 07:25 PM

Sorry guys, it's probably because of me that GCG don't want to deal with them. I got an Injen CAI from them about 5 months ago. There was a few problems with getting them out here. They first sent out a WRX CAI, so that had to be sent out and a new one sent back. But it didn't cost me $900. It was around the mid $450 mark. What what they said did sound a little rude.

On another subject, did you guys all get the PM i sent about the Shorts shifters. Any other Aussie SP20 owners can check out the thread which outlines a group buy of Short Shifters + Bushings from the U.S. Following is the link:

SP20 Short Shifter + Bushing Group Buy.

TDK

I heard that the Rampod is finished...hopefully they get the intake finish soon...

Have you heard much about their systems? are they any good??

scottySP20 March-31st-2003 10:06 PM

Ram pod / induction

Q: I heard that the Rampod is finished...hopefully they get the intake finish soon...

Yeah I spoke to them the other day and they are keen to get something to geather but timing is tuff at the momment.

Q: Have you heard much about their systems? are they any good??

Yeah the work well being in the guard and out of the engine bay which is good due to Temp etc..., but the down fall is they are hard to get to and can get wet and dirty?

I'm still keen to get one though and will see about a group buy for all the aussies if I can? I assume you would be keen?

And I'm sure the others would be too.

wiredone March-31st-2003 11:58 PM

id be keen

id be keen yes yes yes i would.... =p
