Phantom Cruiser June-2nd-2003 12:18 PM

I thought I had a Focus and that he had a Mustang, but he decided to turbo the damn Focus and then I was not allowed to drive it anymore... I took the Mustang and traded it in on the Pro5 and as long as it is still "slow" (compared to the Focus-T), he will continue to say, "Oh this? This is my WIFE'S car".:D

You should just share it with him...I don't see why he keeps that civic if it doesn't run..or is breaking down once a year...

I am not married..but i remeber hearing something about marraiges..

"Nothing you own belongs to you, It belongs to both of you!"

Chas, thank you for saying that about his car! I totally agree. It only runs like two weeks out of the year. But he is sure if he just does one more thing it will run right. Yeah. OK.

Anyhow Phantom Cruiser, it's nice to hear my husband is not the only guy to act like this. Since he built his Civic to drag race, I thought he would leave the Pro5 alone, but now it's like a treat for him to pimp in it. It has power steering, AC, stereo, ect. So it's not a project to drive from point A to point B.

Maybe Acid is right, maybe I just need to learn to share like the other big girls. I mean when we went to the show he offered to help me clean it for judging. Cool, until he started doing everything. I was like, I'll do it." and he would say, "Don't worry about it, I got it." The problem is that when I try to share he has this way of completely taking over because he thinks he is the only one to do things right. I guess I would share more if it was sharing, but sometimes he just taked over situations without even realizing it, and when I point it out he denies it. Maybe I just need to get over it. But it's hard when you want to take credit for something you are proud of, but someone else already has. I don't want to be thought of as one of those girls who drives a car their boyfriend built. That is NOT me!

that sounds like a typical male chauvinist that wants to take control of everything, especially a masculine thing like car modding.

I don't know, something about this situation bothers me. Did you give him the go-ahead to mod your P5? Because in my view, the more he puts in the time and money into modding your P5, gradually it WILL become HIS car. And you'll be left without your own car to drive....

I don't know how I would handle this situation, as I never EVER let anyone else mess with MY CARS without my consent.

ZoomZoomH June-2nd-2003 03:14 PM

maybe tell him to claim it as 'OUR car' and not HIS car.

Why do guys have to be guys?

Well, first off, we are better drivers.
Secondly, everything you own belongs to us!
3rd...How is a woman supposed to drive and STD at the same time?

DISCLAIMER: The comments above were only an attempt at humor as to being a guy. I really do not feel this way all the time. I would prefer it to drive all the time and for the woman to STD as it were, but I understand that women have to feel in control too and that they are sometimes better drivers. So, if the above comments upset you, so sorry.:( But I think society has deemed it appropriate for men to take ownership of all things mechanical or electrical in nature with a few exceptions.

You could do what I did to my baby when that started happening. I put a evil fairy on the back. Let me tell you. He will not drive my car now that it has a fairy on the back. HAHA!!!!:D

My ex-gf and I had this "discussion" all the time. Usually what happened was that whoever wanted to drive, that's the car we'd take, and since I didn't like driving her car, and she didn't like driving mine, it worked out. Go find a car he hates, and you like, and he'll leave it alone. :D

nowkeg June-2nd-2003 11:59 PM

your problem is easily solved... just withhold certain (ahem, we're all adults here right?) sexual services and watch him give you your car back pronto.

as you've said so yourself... guys will be guys. TAKE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE !!!! GO GIRL POWER.....

DAMN HONDAS, my friends honda civic breaks down every month. Hey babygirl you rather drive and be blamed if something happens or just let your husband take the blame. Tell him if he touches your pro I'll kick his ass, its your car

Every time I get on here I love you guys more!

I actually started modding my car myself. He likes to help which is fine by me. Honestly he knows more about a lot of things than I do because he's been doing it longer, but sometimes he doesn't know how to help without taking over the situation. I hope you guys don't think I'm a guy hater but is that a guy thing, to always want to be in charge? I don't know. Everytime we have the "It's My Car" talk, it's cool for a week or so until he has to take it somewhere. Is it possinle to convince a guy he doesn't have to take everything over? PLease give me hope guys!! With guys like Sir Nuke and MyGreenMazda and some others, I guess you're not all bad.

By the way, MyGreenMazda... You're my hero! LOL

Babygirl June-3rd-2003 03:06 PM
