why do guys have to be such guys

Alright, here's my question, why do guys have to act like everything is theirs? My husband and I met through our loe for cars. I first built a 99 Civic Si. pretty soon after we started dating. He took his motor out of his Civic Si. So he started driving mine more... and more... and more. It got to where I spent all my time in the passenger seat. I had a fairly quick little car and he would talk about it as HIS car. I even won a trophy with it and he acteed like it was his. I felt bad for him because it took like a year before his motor was back in his car, so I let him drive. Anyways eventually we fought so much over my car that I had built before I even was with him, that I got rid of it. People always thought of it as his car! so I bought my Pro5. He had his car running at the time so he stayed away from mine... until I satrted working on it. Now, his car is screwed up again, so he is driving my car all over town, bumping my stereo, lettting people think it is HIS again. I at least drive it when I'm in the car now, but the rest of the time...ARGHHHHHH! I love him, but why can't a girl have a car and it just be hers?? Any other girls feel the same or is mine just a jackass?

i'd love for a girl to drive me around sometimes :D

sorry bout ur situation.. im one to respect people's stuff. if its urs, its urs. wouldnt write my name all over it. why dont he buy a daily driver car and have his lil honda as his project car? so u both have ur own cars to drive around with. my suggestion :)

i know he's ur husband, so u really can't give him the ol' "don't u wish u had ur own car?", line.
here's what u do: save up a little, go out and buy a nice little $500 pontiac le mans. get personalized plates with his name on it. huge ribbon on top. tell him u have a surprise for him outside, and to close his eyes... :p

Don't stereotype all guys based on what your husband does. Frankly, he sounds like an asshole.

I am single at this point ,, why?? because I meet a lot of women that don't drive ... I hate that and just won't be bothered with it . I love it when a women can drive , she can come and get me and take me places. or when I go get her. I know that I can trust her to handle the beastly protege 5spd...
It is the sweetest thing to meet a girl that is into hooking her car up and likes the adrenaline of knowing that her car is sweet and gets attention.. I honestly can't judge your hubby , why because I don't know him .. he may have his reasons and he may mean nothing by hit ... funny thing is you , much like me may be possesive ... so you feal a way (jamaican term sorry) when someone other than you is driving your car...

All I know , I knod you can't wait for him to get his car back ..
funny thing though if you don't want him to drive your car , then you need to nip it in the bud from the begining .. but then it is hard to tell your sig other to take a cab/bus .. heck spot him the 2.00 fare ..

my dad would do the same thing, i gave him a spare key just so he could move the car in the morning, but he would end up driving every morning because he would get out the door before me. So what i did is got a after market car alarm with one remote installed when we went on a busness trip. HEHE when he got home he went to move my car and ended up seting off the car alarm :D ...needless to say i drive the car every morning since he can't get in till i unlock it

Sir Nuke June-2nd-2003 12:49 AM

as many of you know...I baught TWO P5's.....gave one to my wife...kept one for me....

when we go places in MY car....I drive....when we go places in HER car...she drives....unless she asks me to drive HER car.

I also have a harley....so does my wife....she has never driven MINE and I have never driven HERS....and moving it into the garage under power for her at her request doesn't constitute DRIVING it. which is all I have ever done with hers.

SO....I think your hubby has some issues with being seen as weak if he is seen being DRIVEN around....maybe he would feel better if you owned A HUGE car and he sat in the back seat as you drove! lol :{D

So true. I don't let anybody drive mine either. I haven't been in any of my passenger seats in my car yet.

Wow, I didn't think people would respond so strongly to my rant! I definately think Sir Nuke was eight on it. It's like he can't stand for me to get more attention than him. The thing is, it's not my fault he can't keep his car running for more than a day you know? Every time he gets it together, he wants to do something else, or some other little peice here or there breaks.

He actually has a crappy daily driver, a 91 Celica, that I got for him so you guys had a good idea there. I actually got it from my brother for nothing because he didn't need it anymore. But anyway, we can't keep that thing running either. It was a peice of garbage, but it was free.

I said something to him about all this and he was like, "Look, I know I messed up and took your Civic and I promise I won't so it again because I don't want you to stop working on your car." The thing is, right now he HAS to drive it to get anywhere if I'm at work or something and can't go. We went to a show last week and he didn't ask to drive it once there. Not even when I won my trophy :D. But then we get back home and it's all back to normal.

Do you guys think maybe I'm being too bitchy and should back off a little. After all he doesn't have anything else to drive right now. That's the loving wife talking. Or should I tell him it's MINE! That's the car lover talking. I know I'm probably complaining an awful lot, but it's VERY annoying. You guys are the best by the way for listening to me !!! Sir Nuke, can you give my husband some lessons? You sound awesome.
