If I get a stable connection with my cable, I'll be up for it... But right now I have to manually reset the cablemodem every hour Right now I'm into taping shows in divx, and I'm trying to keep up on 24 and southpark mainly. I also have a shitload of movies, I'll let you know if/when I get back up.

not really the only thing they have in common is you can download from them..

FTP basically is when someone sets up a server on their pc and people can connect to it by using that persons IP addres and a certain port the default is 21, and the users use programs like cute FTP, thats a great one, to connect and you navigate through their folders and download from that.. so you only download from one source and Kazza you can search and download the same file from mulitiple people at once so you can get higher speeds.

I love FTP but kazza, e-donkey and overnet are good as well.. jsut because you cna just search for what you want you don't need to go hunting for sites that have FTP links and then check that FTP for the files you want..

Anybody know of a site that has good directions for setting up an FTP site? I have IIS running for my web server but have been hesitant to setup FTP. I just want to be sure I set it up correctly and don't unlock the machine too much.

Vagabond-X- You have some good stuff I may be interested in. PM me to let me know what we can do.

funny... the return to using FTP (File Transfer Protocol) for sharing files... one of the earliest ways of doing it, and still an effective manner

Easy to hide software on servers that aren't really yours.

Friends and I used to do that sh*t.

Find an unsecured server on a good connection, load up an FTP server on it, post it somewhere warezy (we used to use USENET), and watch the uploads come swarming in. Its more of a pain in the a** now with stuff like Kazaa, instant gratification is bliss.

FTP's and IRC are the way for me

I don't really like kazaa and all these file sharing programs...because most of the time they have software that is ripped (well I call it ripped)

they have very few ISOs on them....unless you get into e-donkey and Direct Connect...but kazza and all these main ones aren't that good

i still use irc alot....well i stopped using it a couple of years ago...but i went back to it about 6 - 8 months ago

even for music kazaa and them ain't that good....I like downloading albums instead...

I've been into IRC for about 2 years now, still the best way for movies (the only thing I download from irc). I'll PM you guys when my ftp gets set up, anyone have a good ftp program? I used to use bulletproof, but I didn't like that I had to re-arrange my folders on my pc so the ftp users could properly browse them. My cable upload speed isn't that great, but I'd still like to trade with you guys.
