whats the slowest car youve ever driven?

What is the slowest car you have come to drive in your life?

The slowest was an old 5speed diesel vw golf. Awful.
runner up is my friends 93 swift 1,3l.(automatic on top of that)
oh,and my 1st car,an 87 5speed Ford Tempo,it ran the 0-100 km/h in ~18 seconds hahahaha!!!!!!!!!sick sh*t:laugh:

mixmaster_matt April-12th-2002 11:39 AM

1987 Chevy Celebrity A/T. My first car. Transmission was so shot that once it hit 30 it would slip inot neutral and just rev out. So I had to drive it around in second, and then I could go up to 40 in it, needless to say it always ran hot. But damn do I miss that car!

mixmaster_matt April-12th-2002 11:40 AM

By the way, 0-60 never!

This Goddamn rental I'm driving while my Pro5 is in the shop.

Stupid Chevy Metro... the speedometer only goes up to 85, although the thing is in danger of shaking itself to pieces at 65. My morning commute hits a few roads where the average speed is 80, so that little piece'o'crap has almost gotten me killed several times.

Luckily, the shop guys just called, and I get my car back this evening.

traffik April-12th-2002 12:13 PM

You'll be sooo happy to drive your pro!!

traffik April-12th-2002 12:19 PM

My best friend who bought my neon tryed my pro when it was stock and was kinda reluctant and told me that I definitely needed to mod it.It kinda hurts to hear that. But a few days ago,I let him try it out on a curvy road with some gravel on it.Needless to says,he was going nuts and he now always wants to drive my little pro!!haha!!it may not be the fastest car,but hell it hugs the road.
I wish I'll never have to sell it for any reason and buy a friggin slug like my first car... I hate slow cars.I cant understand people who think that a car is made to go from point A to point B.

leungwingkei April-12th-2002 02:32 PM

Slowest car is a 90 Corolla, learner's car. It had about 200,000kms on it and I thought the car was sluggish when it was my first lesson. Tried to take that "maDz TyTe RidE" up a slight incline and I realized I was already flooring it at 60km/h. It took about 8 seconds to get up to 70km/h.
Took it up to a highway once while trying to overtake a 18-wheeler in a merging lane. Boy! was it exicting! (read: dangerous and freckin freaky). Loved all 15 seconds of "excitement".

Makaveli April-12th-2002 02:38 PM

Hahaha, you guys are all funny.....

slowest car for me was this little Nissan Micra. Oh and it didn't have any kind of power steering, so when going slowly, you'd get a good arm workout just turning in a circle.... wasn't my car thank god....

David April-12th-2002 02:49 PM

I think i have you all beat
1998 Vauxhall 1.2 liter rental down hill 85MPH TOP F'ING SPEED, and getting up to speed on the highway was like watching paint dry.
or the 1977 Morris Mini 1.0 liter pea soup green, never got it over 60mph.

traffik April-12th-2002 02:57 PM

oh I forgot one more POS...the same guy who owns a 93 swift had a 85 chevette automatic for his 1st car!!!!!
I think we had more rides on motocross trails (and ditches)than on the road!!:p

When I was in high school, my mom drove an old Volvo, can't remember the model number (something like a 240), and there was an electrical glitch in it such that sometimes it would just lose an entire cylinder.

Ahh, a mid-1980's low-end Volvo on *three* cylinders, man, was that a dog. I bet it topped out around 80-85 mph, but getting up to 55 was a nightmare...

April-12th-2002 06:41 PM

Can I include trucks? If so, the slowest thing I've ever driven was a Ryder with a 24' box, loaded with 10k+ lbs of stuff, and towing my 4500 lb pickup. 0-60 was nearly unmeasureable, the governor was set at 62mph, and any good-sized hill was taken at 25mph. Big hole between 3rd and 4th (3rd was good for 26mph, 4th for 48mph, with 3400 rpm governor).

My previously mentioned pickup, a '85 Chevy S-10 with 2,8L V6 and auto trans was probably the slowest car I've driven regularly. 0-60 was probably about 22 secs. Top speed 90 mph (redline limited).

Fastest car was my friend's 400+ hp Talon. That car is capable of high 11's. Running 24 lbs of boost (maybe a little more).

funkdaddysmack April-12th-2002 07:51 PM

I used to have an '86 Mazda B2200. 0-60 in it was about 17-18 seconds. My dad has a '93 B2200 now, but it's auto... That thing is SOOOOO slow.... I've yet to drive a really fast car : ( The fastest car I drove was probably a '79 mustang cobra. It was pretty quick, sorta... Come to think of it, my car now isn't that quick, but I still love it! : )

mazspeed April-12th-2002 10:12 PM

Chevy Sprint...Can't even remember the year.
Damn thing felt like it was gonna shake apart at 70.
But, one good thing that came of that car...I traded it for my 92' Protege in 1992.

I still miss that 92' but I love my 02".

mp4life April-12th-2002 10:45 PM

Please none of you can compete, 1984 GMC Vandura Conversion van. We drove that beast from florida ALLL the way up to new hampshire THIS summer. Shake apart at 70? yeah right, you couldnt get up to 70 going down a hill. It started to shake like a mofo at 55, and you couldnt push it much past that.

If it wasnt the slowest, it was at least the worst. The AC didnt work... the windows in the back didnt open... and we were in florida durin the hottest time of the year. Fun. Shag carpets, mildew smell, fugly, chipping paint job, ahh it had it all... ohhh the memories... that id like to forget

ToBeBackDoc April-12th-2002 11:06 PM

GEO METRO!!

0-60: 3 days 6 hours 27mins and 3 secs. Clocked the 1/4 time with a calender!

Makaveli April-13th-2002 12:22 AM

ouch mp4life, sounds like you had a fun trip. How did you end up with that beater?

Doc, you needed a calendar to clock the 1/4 mile time? hahaha :D

my old car was SUPER slow AND super fast! i had an 88 old's cutlass ciera (220hp V6... that baby ripped--when it worked.. heh heh ;) ). but cuz of late 80's crappy ass electronics, my engine would always spontaneously die on me and since my car was power-EVERYTHING, i'd lose acceleration, steering, and braking all at once! :wee: hahahhaha! i almost got wasted SO many times!!!

Deceptipro April-13th-2002 05:12 AM

bumper car. :D

Zulu April-13th-2002 09:00 AM

The slowest car in the world was my first one.
An 1981 Buick Century. It's nickname was "the flying brick".
It ran like shit, looked like shit, but was as comfortable as shit.
I tried to see what it would do the 0-60 in but before I hit 60 my watch battery died.Damn 2 year watch batteries...

That's a long story... but basicly, i had never met my grandfather, and had no desire to. But he heard that i was looking for a car and he though that stank-ass van would be perfect for us, so we flew down to florida to meet him, stayed for two days, took his van and booked it... well not really booked it, but we tried to at least. That beast ate up a quart of oil a day... ohh and then there was the blowout in phili, that was fun too. when i got home we sold the van and bought the pro the next week. All in all, it was the strangest experience of my life and i could go on for pages and pages explainin the whole thing, but i'll spare you

RiceWagon April-13th-2002 02:04 PM

A 1978 Grove 50 ton mobile crane. That sucker topped out at 65 km/h and took about 2 kilometers to reach top speed. I had to have an escort vehicle on the highway because it was so slow! And talk about loud you had to wear earplugs and headphones to drown out the motor, the exhaust stack was right beside the drivers cabin.

Bruce95fmla April-13th-2002 02:35 PM

This would have to be a ford festiva, my c ousins car was in the shop and we had to use this , so I popped the hood and looked under there and saw only 3 spark plug wires , I was looking for the 4th for a long damn time , till I realized it was a 3 cylinder
hahahha

Easy easy to decide... My mom's old car, a '92 Pontiac LeMans, that POS got me into an acciedent it was so slow getting from 0-20. Starting going up a hill from 0 was like going 10MPH up the hill flooring it.

WeaDD April-14th-2002 02:25 AM

The slowest car would have to be my protege, But I own a 83 Dodge Ramcharger and that Beast is the slowest thing I've drove. She is a horse in the snow and mud:wee: :wee: OH and would somebody give me a chain, So I can pull him and a few others around for a workout

Mp3Angel April-14th-2002 07:16 PM

'85 Cutlass Supreme

My first car... You could slam the gas pedal to the FLOOR and it would lurch for a full 30 seconds before it would actually pick it's big @ss up and get over 40 mph... I hated it, but I loved it, hey at least it was wheels, right? Broke down on me once going DOWNHILL... not touching the gas OR the brakes and it just STOPS. Hmmm... The ENTIRE rear end had locked up.. thank the Lloyd my father-in-law can fix cars lol

Sir Nuke April-14th-2002 07:33 PM

my 1965 VW Bug....when it still had its ORIGINAL 1200cc 40HP motor....drove it around for a while like that....TILL I built and installed the 135 HP 1776 cc firebreather......and in a 1700 pound car....well do the math..... :{D whipped more than my fair share of unsuspecting V-8's with her! :D

kenji4861 April-14th-2002 09:37 PM

86 Volvo Red Huge Wagon

My GF's dad let me borrow it, it really seemed like there wuz some delay from the time I pressed on the pedal and the time it moved.

TXprotege April-15th-2002 12:42 PM

the slowest car i have driven is my friend 2001 chevy cavalier. That thing has no pick up at all.

avro05 April-15th-2002 12:50 PM

I have only ever owned 2 cars in my life, My MP5 (which I smacked up on friday:tear: ) and my 98 protege.

The 98 had the 1.5L engine so it would be the slowest of the two.

of course there was my friends 85 (i think) nissan micra that ran on three cylinders.

My first car.
1988 dodge colt. Heaviest production compact car in existance 3600lb curb weight, with a rip snorting 1.6 90HP engine just waiting to be unleashed. No power anything. Including a radio. POS doesn't even begin to describe it. It was so worthless, that when the scrap guy came to pick it up from my driveway, he wouldn't give me the 40 bux he promised till I gave him the headlight I stripped out of the front of the car.
Stocker.

turbonium959 April-15th-2002 03:36 PM

The slowest car I have ever driven was my last car, '90 Plymouth Colt. After 160K, on my manual tranny the fourth gear died. I was only left with three, and I could only push 35 mph. With an almost burned out clutch, on a warm day, my acceleration would 0-25 in about 25 seconds. Up the hill was even worse. Very horrible experience, driving 35 mph at about 3500, 4000 rpm! The only good thing about it, was doing donuts on the icy parking lots of Maine.

NoahsMP5 April-16th-2002 07:02 PM

Mid 90 ford aspire. Its like driving a lawnmower. No power no comfort. Brand new I think they cost 5000. Thank god it was a loaner.

a Geo Metro

I test drove a Gold Geo Metro as a joke once...(some friends dared me to drive it and try to pick up some chicks, it didn't work out to well)

The screaming 3 cylinders gas pedal was like a thermostat. Set it at 60 and in a about 12 hours it approaches that. The cool thing was when tires wore out, I could bounce over to a hobby shop and buy some for like $6 a set

hey man!!! don't laugh! i seriously had to do that i my old car!!! once it started raining, that'd mean that i don't get to listen to the radio and i have to turn off the heat or a/c (at night time only though cuz i had to compensate for the lights). otherwise my battery light would go on and the engine would sputter... and get this, i even had my alternator replaced/rebuilt a total of 6 times!!!

1962 VW Bus

Slowest car I've ever driven was my dad's old 1962 VW Bus. I don't think I win over the fellow who drove a 40HP VW Bug, but close! I think the Bus had 60HP or something demented like that. It was slow, but it was hilarious driving it around! :) You know chicks dig it! Heheheheh...

You need to try pushing one with a Protege some time. I once pushed a later model VW bus, loaded with about 8 sets of tires/wheels, up an 8%, 4 mile long grade. The Bus would only make about 30 mph, so I pushed it in 3rd gear up to abou 65 mph. Let me tell you, matching the speed of a moving vehicle is so you can push it is tough. Took three tries before I got it right, and even then, the bus got really light in the rear going up the hill.
