What was your worst job ever?

Like the topic says, what was your worst job ever?

Detassling Corn for the summer.

JPBlackMP5 October-12th-2002 10:28 AM

Two tied for 1st. Both at the same place. During the summer prior to going to college I worked for Huntington State Beach here in California primarily cleaning up beachgoers messes:

1. Midnight shift picking up trash cans filled with rats - usually they'd crawl up your arm scared sh*tless that you bothered them while feeding.

2. Cleaning out the women's restroom! Up one side of the beach - turn around to the same ones and find that women are the worst about their bathroom use. Use your imagination. Very smelling and sickly looking. Yuuuuch!

:wtf: :barf: :barf: :barf:

ZZOOOMM October-12th-2002 11:19 AM

My friend cleaned out Gizz booth's at the Pussy Cat theater.

KpaBap October-12th-2002 11:55 AM

Picking corn and diggin out potatoes for 12 hours a day at my grandma's farm-type place in scorching heat

Makaveli October-12th-2002 02:39 PM

I was going to say having to put on a huge costume of a teddy bear and stand in rain for 8 hours straight. It gets so hot in there, you wanna pass out

cjstringer October-12th-2002 02:53 PM

I used to clean out burnt buildings. The worst were grocery stores. After 2-3 weeks (for insurance and police to look it over) you would go in and pull everything out by hand. Imagine the meat and fish counters rotting in the summer heat for a few weeks and having to clean it out with nothing but cotton gloves. Rather nasty.

MarkSpark October-12th-2002 03:22 PM

My first job was the worst....BURGER KING...never work there if you didnt already know.

hihoslva October-12th-2002 03:23 PM

I used to work for a property management company doing maintenance work, and we'd be the one's cleaning up apartments and stuff after evictions.

These assholes would leave refrigerators full of food, food on the floor, shit in the toilets, piss on the floors - whatever they could to make life hard. And after a few weeks, that cleanup was NASTY AS HELL.

One time, the guy I worked with had to bust down the front door of one apartment - seems the evicted tenants had nailed it shut somehow. But they also spread peanut butter all over the header above the door inside the place. And yes - when he busted into the apartment, a few thousand cockroaches fell all over him - I've never seen a 60 year old man strip down to underwear so fast in all my life. Oviously, these assholes were "professional evictees" and knew how to get the last laugh. All my company did was ask them to pay the fucking rent - I guess we deserved it then, huh? Frigging welfare collecting, non-working wastes of life.

Carpet Cleaner

Cleaning carpets was the worst job I ever had. I ran into some nasty rooms with awful cat piss smells. I also had to clean vacant apartments. I can't believe how some people live.

I know!!!

I help my dad sometimes because he's a building manager and when people leave, you go in there and it smells sooo bad and then we have to clean the carpets and everything to make it ready for the people moving in.

Speaking of people not paying their rent, hihosilva, my dad had a guy jump out of the balcony and run away literarly.... good thing he was on the first floor hehe

nightowl October-12th-2002 06:24 PM

worked at various old age homes as house cleaner...basicly i was a janitor...man some of the shit i litteraly had to clean up!!!!

Hehe - I did that shit for a few weeks also. Definitely a close second for the worst job I've had.

We used the crappy portable units, too - half the time they didn't even work. I wound up chucking the machine into my boss's office, swiping my last paycheck, and telling him to take the leaky POS machine and the job and shove it up his ass.

worst job

Bottle depot..

I hated beer before I worked there.. imagine how much I liked it after having sorted beer cans in a tiny room (and think of what drunk people do to their beer cans..bleah!) for 10 hours a day for minimum wage..

The good part about it was.. in order to make it livable.. we drank and did the herbal thing while we worked.. hmm that's how I cope with my current job too.. :)

Pudge0878 October-14th-2002 02:07 PM

My worse job was probally.... Workig at Wendys. I hated it, I came home everyday crying.

Right now I work as a nursing assistant... Its cool, But after I finish my classes for EMT I am gone.

JPBlackMP5 October-14th-2002 02:55 PM

Cristy,
EMT to be the first on potentially grisly scenes? I don't envy the NA job. Isn't that difficult? my wife's an RN and see's how hard you all work.

Haven't we all worked at a fast food joint? Mine was Wienerschnitzel.

macdaddyslomo October-14th-2002 03:18 PM

oh yeah,I forgot...on mine you had to have hepatitus shots to even work there...pretty scary if you ask me....and it was called Soil-sort not sort and wash...i just remembered we found an eyeball too...one of the guys decided he would squish it....omg that was gross

celticbass October-14th-2002 03:45 PM

i used to work for M&M Mars making snickers, skittles, starburst, candy bars and stuff. Anyway, the plant i worked at made over 75% of the snickers for the entire world. Now imagine the size of the vat used to keep chocolate hot as it pours.( nearly 2 stories tall) every 2 monthes me and 3 other people had to clean it. burnt chocolate nearly a foot thick on every square inch of surface. and the smell... ugh its been over a year and i cant even begin to forget.

Tornado October-18th-2002 11:59 AM

OMG! You guys are making me laugh my ass off. I'm sitting in my office laughing at your misery. People keep looking and wondering what I'm doing :)

I have to agree any job invloving body parts has to suck big time. I'm with Foxy Mazda and have a weak stomach for that stuff.

I've never had an insanly shitty job but one time did suck big time.

I was a camp counsellor and the Grabage collection people went on strike. The garbage piled up for 2 weeks till the camp director told us to go take it to the dump.

2 weeks worth of garbage sitting in the hot sun, chicken, beef, you name it. It was stored in and around the garbage bin. A big steel contraption with 2 front doors. We removed the stuff around the bin.. pretty bad but manageable. Then we opened the doors.

The doors were coated in maggots the size of your finger. The smell was unbelievavle and about 4 of us puked :barf: right away. needless to say the job got no better.

Anyway thanks again for the laugh and hopefully we all have better jobs now. i know I do :)

Back in 96 I worked at a autorebuilders shop in Cali, needles to say the cars that he was buying to rebuild were wrecks that in almost everycase someone died in. either we salvaged from one or another with brain matter everywhere splattered with talcom powder from the air bas large puddles of dried blood. Hair and skin left in windshields, and occasionly a chunk of skin or even a finger or two that was lost at the scene and not found in the car.
Grizzly grusome shiat. Not to mention most of the time they were SUV's with a cooler full of groceries for a camping trip and the car already was sitting for two or three or more weeks. with the awful smell of dried blood and even urine smells. Break out the pressure washer and clean most of the upusltery out side the car.

My buddy works for a company that cleans up houses, cars, offices after people commit suicide.
