"we didn't know" is a naive and arrogant excuse... all of these terrorists came to be because of america's foreign policies used in the past 30 years..... the american government pissed off a bunch of people indirectly through the support of various organizations and governments to further their own interests... thats the way it was and it doesn't look like they are going to change it anytime soon, because that will mean they will have to make themselves look stupid for admitting fault to their foreign policies to further their self interests.... how the hell can you NOT know it will happen in some fucked up "unimaginable" way again? Those bastards tried to bomb the WTC with their truck about 10 years ago, they even made a movie about it... what made you think they would just give up? Even Tom Clancy wrote about how terrorists will use fucked up things as weapons... remember they're crazy ************* who do things without really thinking... the fact is, we knew it would happen in some way, and we didn't prepare for it... we didn't know they would use planes, that's for sure

and do you honestly believe that everything about us going to war with iraq is because bush wants to make up for daddy's **** up? it takes an act of congress for us to go to war. bush only gets 90 days of whatever he wants. but it takes congress to approve longer.
why even bring up n korea and cuba? n korea is bragging about having a missile that they can launch to our west coast, and that they have nuclear capabilities. doesn't that worry you the least bit?
and communism is great in theory, but sucks *** in the real world because of human nature. every communist leader was/is rich, while his people starve and suffer. yeah, really great
do you think that a brain surgeon will be that good if he gets paid the same amount as a garbage man? no, our healthcare system is far from perfect, but at least i know that with my insurance i'm going to survive a surgury if needed.
do you honestly believe that they are going to start up the draft again? first off bush would be committing political suicide. secondly, it would take WWIII for that to happen. thirdly, the only reason the draft was ever brought up was because a minority politician felt that our fighting forces were comprised of more minorities than whites. well, they proved that incorrect. based on population, the percentages of whites, blacks, hispanics is very close to percentages of total population of our country. there will be no draft untill WW3 happens. and the only reason our fighting forces are less than when bush senior was in office is because of clinton. he downsized the military.

The US made a good deal of foreign policy mistakes in the cold war era that are coming back to haunt us now. But, were we the only ones? The USSR screwed up plenty of countries too. Let's not even go into the UK, France, and Spain with their rampant imperialism. We can't change the past, but we can help to mold the future. The problem is not getting Saddam out, it is what to do afterwards as TheMAN stated.
Perhaps we should return to our pre-WWII isolationist stance. Then we might see how the world gets along without us. You think that all of the worlds governments wouldn't be clamoring for military support or financial aid the moment the **** hit the fan? Unfortunately, we can't. We have too much at risk. If we were totally isolationalist, the terrorists wouldn't have much to bitch about, but trust me, they would find something new so they could retain their power with their followers. There is also the whole "global economy" issue. We have far to many domestic interests in foreign countries and vice versa to be isolationist.
So, what do we do? Damage control for four decades worth of questionable foreign policy. We try to look after our asses while pissing off as few people and countries as possible. If Sean Penn and Danny Glover don't like it, who cares? Celebrities are left-wing idiots with no education in foreign policy and can only influence other idiots who get all of their information from Access Hollywood. Unfortunately, this country is filled with ignorant people. The government and the media are not telling you the whole story and the government has much better intellegence information than Sean Penn or you or me. Don't ever unquestioningly trust the government, but don't do the opposite either. They know what they are doing and George W. Bush cannot push his own personal agenda. He's not Hitler, he's not Saddam, he's a figurehead in a democracy and he can't just start a war without the support of numerous military advisors and Congress.
I am sick of all of these neo-hippie wanna-bes sppouting off about things that they know nothing about. This ain't gonna be another Vietnam. Do you even remember the first war? If you blinked, it was over. How would this one be much different? Iraq has vastly advanced in is defensive and technological capabilities in ten years, hasn't it? Yeah, right.
