Using smilies

in applications other than these forums. Is it possible and if so, how do i do it? If this is a computer "kindegarten" kind of question, forgive me. I'm an old fart who's a little slow on the uptake. Hell, I was a junior in college when "Pong" first debuted.
Anyway, thanks for any help.

Well, if the other applications dont have built in smilies, then you could insert your own if the application allows it. In order to insert your own, you would need the link to that smilie. Take for instance the Blue smilie that is hopping up and down. The link for that smilie is http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/ima...ilies/blue.gif

You can find this out by right clicking the image, and choosing properties. Most of the time, you SHOULD NOT use images that are linked to other peoples site unless they are approved, like the smilies in this board. You could save the smilies to your own server or webspace, and link them from there.

This is a brief explanation to your question, but I dont fully understand what "other applications" you are referring to.

Here is a link to a collection of smilies that I have on some webspace of mine. http://home.dal.net/mnkyboy/SMILES%20PAGES/MAIN.htm

Hope this helps...

Specifically, I want to send a message to my wife or daughter using Microsoft Outlook and I want to include some of the smilies in the body of the message. Am I allowed to do that, can I do that and how do I do that?
Example - I want to send the message "Talk to you later, gotta go!" and include the blue blob being grabbed by the hand . Like I just did.

Sure you can do this. Simply right click on the smilies that you would like to use on your computer, and choose "Save Picture As" and save it to your harddrive. When you write an email in Outlook, choose "Insert Picture from file" or "Insert Picture" and choose one of the smilies that you saved onto your harddrive. Inserting a smilie like this is just like inserting an other type of image. Keep in mind, if your wife or daugter uses a text based email client, they will not be able to see the smilie, since it will be an attachement to the email.

Hope this helps

Thanks. Just what I was looking for. Didn't think it was that difficult, just didn't know where to begin.
