Who has one and what do you think of it?

After I played an hour of GT3 on my friend PS2, I was instantly hooked on the game! I'm thinking of buying one just for the game. It's going for 299.99CAN. I intended to buy the GT3 packaged type(red box) but found out it was sold out so I have to settle for the blue box and then get GT3 for 29.99CAN on top of that.

Is this a good price, and will the PS2 last, meaning will there still be good games coming out for it? I'm still undecided now, so your comments will be much appreciated.

 

no you should not. the ps2 has been out for two or three years now. this means the ps3 will be out in 1 or 2 making the ps2 obsolete and then you will be wondering if you should get that. I fell ibto this trap due to an addiction to tony hawk........ from experience its just bad news.

 

I won't say that it's better than GC or Xbox, but I love mine. I've played GC quite a bit, and could never get into the controller. Xbox is looking nice, but I don't want to drop the cash on yet another console system. GT3 is god, I love that game. Grand Theft Auto 3 is great too, and I can't help but HYPE HYPE HYPE GTA Vice city, from what I've been reading about it, it's going to be UNBELIEVABLE, I think it might make GTA3 look bad! hahahhaa...

If you have the money, it's a good buy. Dont' pay attention to this PS3 crap, it'll be years before it's avaliable over here, everything you here about it right now is just rumors.

 

I tell you to get one. I really don't think that any system is better than the other. But, if you want to get techical, ps2 has the gaming thing on lock. That's because they have a better relationship with more developers. But, the xbox has the most power hands down when it comes to hardware. Nintendo is tight because they come out with good games that are "home made". As for you buying a ps2, I think you should go for it. But, 299.99 is kinda high. Couldn't you order it from the net and pay to import it? Would that be cheaper?

Been playing it for months and still got a long ways to go, it's addicting! There's just so much STUFF you can do.

 

Thanks for all your input everyone. I think I'm going to get one since even if it does become obsolete it can still play DVDs, which I need and hey the console still looks very cool.

I had a PS2 and I throughlly enjoyed the entertainment it gave me throughout the 4 years I played it. I also heard of a PS3 rumor, but then its not even out in Japan, and when it comes over they're going to jack all the prices up due to limited supply like they did with the PS2.

XBOX is nice too, but then I think its too PC like in terms of game and graphics, so I don't think it's worth my money yet.

I'd say the PS2 has at least 2 more years of full support, I seriously doubt the "PS3" will come out this year since it hasn't even been anounced yet, I think itll come out in 2005.
Overall I think the PS2 is the best way to go if you're only getting one console, I got it in April cuz sadly Sega killed the DC and yesterday I got the Gamecube (gotta have Mario ). Plus, GTA:Vice City is coming out Oct.22-29 , it's going to be one of the best games ever.

Man i was so close to getting a PS2 for christmas, but i ended up playing Halo on a X-box and it was just insane. Dude im not gonna lie x-box is off the hook! Not only are the graphics and games awesome, but in Dec. X-Box is going LIVE so you will be able to go online with it and play against friends all over the world. All it cost is $50 for a year subscription, plus the subscription comes with a head-set so you can talk to other players as you smoke them in a race or splatter their blood on walls (Great huh!!) Im gonna stop talking now, but if you want some X-Box info just PM me and ill send you some pics and tell you more info....Peace...

By the way i know 5 people that have bought Ps2's but ended up buying a X-Box also.. so that says alot...hehe...

 

Anyone played Midnight Club for ps2? What's it like? I dont' have a ps2 but have an xbox and project gotham racing is pretty good and so is rallisport challenge.

yeah get the ps2 theres a lot of great titles out there for it , besides i think its so much better than xbox or game crap i mean cube
