Damn that sucks! It also sucks that the car doesn't have that protecting thing that doesn't allow them to shift to a gear at that high of speeds!

That engine blew hardcore. The pistons don't look too happy.

What, a driver with common sense? Looks like that car had a short circuit between the pedals and the shifter.

Yea, what's the deal? pwned = owned = pwn3d = own3d

That is some crazy and depressing stuff! The piston and rod are like ***** of melted aluminum! How the F did they get shaped like that? The oilpan shot is MONEY!

I don't know how it is in the states but school zones only last till 5pm here in Alberta unless specified so the school zone wouldn't have mattered as the pic was obviously taken at night. It's true that the shifter knotches are pretty close in an RSX and I can understand the mis-shift but speeding and blowing the engine apart...no sympathy here.

Considering he not only missed one notch (5th to 4th instead of 5th to 6th) but two (5th to 2nd) I have less simpathy for the dude. That's what happens when you're showin' off...

Just for giggles, I did some math, assuming that the contents of the story were accurate...

Acura RSX Type-S with stock tranny and tires:

Speed @ 7000 rpm in 5th gear: 128.3 mph
RPM at 128.3 mph in 2nd gear: 16,190 RPM (!!!)

Even if he had shifted properly and hit 4th gear, the engine would have hit 8,720 RPM, and the results still might not have been pretty.

It's pretty much true here too ("while children are present"), however the speed limit usually doesn't raise to 70mph. Plus, no matter what time it is, it's probably a double fine zone anyway.
